Hyderabad : Tension prevailed at secretariat when BJP state president N Ramchander Rao along with party leaders who led a sudden march towards secretariat to submit a representation signed by over 8 lakh students demanding immediate release of long-pending fee reimbursement dues of Rs 15000 crore.

Three days ago, Rao had written to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy seeking an appointment to personally hand over the representations collected from students across Telangana. However, despite the seriousness of the issue affecting lakhs of students, there was no response from the Chief Minister. With the State Government remaining unresponsive to the concerns of students, BJP state chief decided to take their voice directly to the Secretariat and led BJP workers in a march towards the seat of the government to submit the representations.

However, police foiled the attempt and arrested BJP president Ramchander Rao, party leaders and workers and they were shifted to different police stations in police van. Upon reaching the Secretariat gates, Rao and BJP Karyakartas were stopped by the police, following which they staged a protest demanding that the government listen to the concerns of Telangana’s students. The police subsequently arrested BJP state chief and shifted him to Chikkadpally Police Station. Police also arrested other leaders including state party general secretary Goutham Rao, BJLP leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, MLC Malka Komaraiah, ex-MP Dr D K Aruna and state secretary Bhandaru Vijaya Laxmi.

Condemning the arrests, Rao strongly criticized arrogance attitude and anti-students mindset of the Congress party. Rao said he undertook a hunger strike in support of the students cause, wrote letters to the CM, and even collected 8 lakh signed representations from students. Yet, the shameless Congress government did not move even an inch for them. Stating that the Congress government can not silence 40 lakh students and Telangana BJP reiterated that the party will continue its struggle until the Congress Government clears the pending fee reimbursement dues.
