Hyderabad: In a significant milestone towards strengthening freight logistics, Guntakal Division of South Central Railway launched Parcel Cargo Express between Renigunta – Nishchintapur (Agartala). The inaugural service started on 07th May, 2026 from Renigunta Railway station.
In the recent past, the Rayalaseema region especially Renigunta and its sub-urban areas are cultivating Agri produces on a large scale. In order to enhance the market avenues and to get better price, it is imperative to transport the Agri produces to long-distances. The road transportation is time consuming and costlier. To aid the traders and Agri producers, South Central Railway, Guntakal Division has taken initiative to start a Parcel Cargo Express on a contract basis for a period of 6 years. For the inaugural run, commodities like Betel Nuts, All Out liquid refills, Agarbattis, chocolates and other fast-moving consumer goods were transported.
This train is primarily aimed to transport Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and Agro products for long-distance areas, catering to growing market demand through an efficient rail logistics network. In the future, major commodities and industrial products are expected to be moved such as chillies, MRF Tyres, ITC products, Cadbury confectioneries, Kimberly clark products, Enerlife products and Perfetti consumer goods, indicating a strong potential of freight transportation for this corridor.

The stream is expected to generate revenue of around Rs. 54 crores during the entire contract period, further strengthening the division’s freight earning potential. The dedicated cargo service will provide seamless connectivity between Southern India and major commercial centres such as Kolkata, Silchar, Guwahati and Agartala, facilitating faster and economical movement of parcel and cargo movement across the country.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, SCR appreciated the efforts of the Guntakal Division team in successfully launching the Parcel Cargo Express service. He stated that the launch of this Parcel Cargo Express marks an important step towards enhancing freight business and strengthening logistics connectivity. He stated that the service will offer a dependable and cost-effective transportation solution for traders and industries while contributing towards the growth of rail freight traffic on the zone.
