Hyderabad : South Central Railway undertook a day long intensive ticket checking drive on 05th November in anticipation of huge rush of rail passengers travelling in view of Diwali and Chhath festivals, to avoid inconvenience to genuine passengers.
The drive was conducted across the Zone covering all the three divisions viz Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded as per the instructions issued by Ms. Ity Pandey, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, SCR. In this context, the zone has achieved highest ever single day earnings of Rs 1.18 crore in Ticket Checking activity on this particular day. A total of 11,150 cases pertaining to ticketless or irregular travel were registered against the defaulters and the amount was realised from them.
This is the highest-ever single day ticket checking revenue recorded by South Central Railway since the bifurcation of the Zone in June 2026. The average daily ticket checking revenue of the Zone is Rs. 33.44 lakh from around 4,373 cases. SCR has achieved a new milestone by registering Rs. 1.18 crore in a single day, setting a new record for the Zone while, Secunderabad Division contributed the highest ticket checking revenue of Rs. 1.02 crores. It is also heartening to note that along with male counterparts, 117 lady ticket checking staff are in the forefront for effective ticket checking.
The main objective of the ticket checking drive was to prevent inconvenience to bona fide passengers and curb ticketless and irregular travel in reserved and unreserved coaches of passenger and express trains. The drive also aimed to create awareness among the public about the importance of travelling with valid tickets or proper travel authority.
Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, SCR appreciated the Commercial Department and ticket checking staff for their dedicated efforts in achieving this remarkable milestone. He commended the staff for their commitment and proactive approach in curbing ticketless and irregular travel. He emphasised that such intensive ticket checking drives safeguard genuine passengers, prevent irregular travel and ensure smooth and hassle-free journey for all.
