Hyderabad : The closing ceremony of Hindi Pakhwada was held with great enthusiasm and fervour at Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), Hyderabad, a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Defence. Presiding over the ceremony, the company’s Chairman and Managing Director Dr. S.V.S. Narayana Murthy, addressing the gathering, said that Hindi Pakhwada is a celebration of our country’s linguistic diversity. Our Constitution’s Eighth Schedule includes, along with Hindi, twenty-one other languages of India.

Therefore, this celebration is also a celebration of all those languages. Over these years, Hindi has emerged as the thread that binds us all together. I believe that loving one’s mother tongue is extremely essential, and I am proud of my Telugu language. But at the same time, adopting Hindi connects me more closely with other parts of my country. Mahatma Gandhi called Hindi the “language of the people” (Janbhasha), and this remains just as true today. Even during the freedom struggle, Hindi worked to bring people from different provinces onto one platform. Only when we adopt Hindi along with our mother tongue with ease do we truly live the spirit of “unity in diversity” on which our country stands.

On the occasion, the company’s Director (Finance) K. Madhubala said in her address that programmes like Hindi Diwas have proved quite meaningful in giving momentum to Hindi implementation at MIDHANI. Director (Production & Marketing) P. Babu, praising the work being done for the promotion and spread of Hindi at MIDHANI, said that the effort being made by MIDHANI’s Hindi Department to teach the Hindi language through entertainment-related programmes along with Hindi training is commendable.

On the occasion, messages from the Hon’ble Home Minister and Defence Minister were read out. During the closing programme, various entertaining games were organised through a lottery system for the active participation of the employees present. Winners of the competitions held during Hindi Pakhwada and of the Hindi monthly competitions started in July 2026 were honoured with prizes. On the occasion, employees who successfully passed the “Parangat” examination of the course conducted under the Hindi Teaching Scheme were given appreciation and responsibility certificates. Members of the CMC, the Official Language Implementation Committee and the Official Language Executive Committee marked their presence on the occasion.
