Hyderabad: Dr Sajida Khan, a renowned audio engineer from Hyderabad, was conferred the prestigious ‘Sakala Kala Puraskaralu 2026’ on Saturday at a grand ceremony held at Ravindra Bharathi Main Hall. The award was presented by Dr Siraj in association with the Siraj Dance & Arts Academy, in recognition of Dr Khan’s outstanding contribution to the field of audio engineering and the arts.
The event saw the presence of several dignitaries and guests from cinema, music, education, and social service sectors. Dr Sajida Khan is widely recognized as the first female audio engineer in India. Her illustrious career includes the President’s Award, Telangana State Award, and numerous other accolades from various national and international organizations. Apart from her technical achievements, Dr Khan is also an educationist and social leader.
She has mentored several young professionals in the audio and music industry and actively works on initiatives promoting women in STEM fields. Speaking after receiving the award, Dr. Khan said, “This honour is not just for me, but for every woman who dares to step into unconventional fields. I dedicate this award to all young girls who dream of creating sound, not just hearing it.”
