G Kishan Reddy Union Minister Inspects Redevelopment Works at Vikarabad Railway Station

Hyderabad: G. Kishan Reddy Minister of Coal and Mines, Govt of India inspected the progress of on-going redevelopment works at Vikarabad Railway station today. Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Member of Parliament, Chevella and other public representatives were also present. Dr. R. Gopalakrishnan, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division and other senior Railway officials accompanied the Union Minister.

The Union Minister visited the construction sites at the Station and took stock on the progress of re-developmental works. He inspected the station building works, platforms, 12 M foot over bridge, parking, circulating area etc. He also reviewed the safety measures being undertaken at the construction site.

Later, addressing the media personnel at the station, G. Kishan Reddy stated that Vikarabad Railway station is being redeveloped as Amrit Station at a cost of Rs. 24.35 crores, aimed at improving passenger convenience, accessibility and overall station environment. The Union Minister informed that the redevelopment works include passenger amenities like 12-meter-wide Foot Over Bridge, lifts, escalators, upgraded waiting halls, improved circulating area, entrance and façade improvements, lighting etc. Shri G. Kishan Reddy stated that under “Amrit Bharat Station Scheme”, 40 Railway stations across Telangana are being redeveloped with a cost of more than Rs 2,000 Cr.

Further, the Union Minister stated that over the last 12 years, the railway network in Telangana has undergone a major transformation under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted that various infrastructure projects including construction of new railway lines, doubling, third-line works, bypass lines, station redevelopment, electrification and safety enhancement measures etc are currently underway across the State. G. Kishan Reddy stated that Telangana was the first State where the indigenous Automatic Train Protection System, Kavach, was implemented. He also informed that the upgradation to Kavach 4.0 is under progress across various sections.

He further stated that five Vande Bharat trains are presently being operated from the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, connecting them with important destinations such as Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Bengaluru and Nagpur. The Hon’ble Minister stated that the Final Location Survey for Regional Ring Rail, proposed along the exterior periphery of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) around Hyderabad, was sanctioned in 2023 for a distance of 400 km. He further stated that the LiDAR survey has been completed and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been submitted for the northern section of the RRR, while the alignment for the southern section is under finalisation.

Konda Vishweshwar Reddy Member of Parliament, stated that Vikarabad Railway Station is being redeveloped with world-class facilities under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He stated that the redevelopment will provide enhanced passenger amenities and modern facilities, while significantly improving the overall travel experience for rail passengers.

Earlier, G. Kishan Reddy, received the Guard of Honour and Grand Salute from Railway Protection Force on his arrival at Vikarabad station. Later, the Union Minister along with MP, Chevella also planted saplings on the station premises as part of efforts to promote and strengthen the green environment.
