Hyderabad: SCR is striving relentlessly in capturing new commodities in its freight basket. Continuing its efforts towards further enhancing the freight loading and adding new streams of traffic, Hyderabad Division of the zone has started freight loading from Veldurti and Jankampet stations. This initiative is expected to strengthen the Division’s freight business while creating new avenues for transportation of industrial and agricultural products through the rail network.

At Veldurti station, a first-of-its-kind Exclusive Container Terminal has been set up wherein the first rake is under loading with Pig Iron and TMT Steel Bars produced by a nearby steel plant. The loaded rakes are planned to be transported to major destinations including Delhi, Punjab, Mumbai and Gujarat. The Exclusive Container Terminal at Veldurti will provide industries with an efficient, reliable and cost-effective mode of transportation for iron and steel products to major markets across the country.
Further, Jankampet station has been opened for goods traffic and the first mini rake comprising of 21 covered wagons has been loaded with Maize. The rake is being transported to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra. This initiative will ensure smooth movement of Maize from Telangana to Marathwada region of Maharashtra and will be especially beneficial for farmers who can transport their produce economically and reliably through Rail and will cater to the food grain needs in Marathwada region.

Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, SCR, appreciated the Hyderabad Division for its efforts in adding new traffic and enhancing the freight basket of the zone. He advised the division to continue the same momentum so as to further strengthen the freight loading of SCR even after the bifurcation of the zone.
