Under Operation Nanhe Farishte, RPF/SCR Rescued 512 lost/separated children in need of care
Hyderabad : Railway Protection Force is always on duty, carrying out a relentless fight against criminals and quietly safeguarding the lives of the vulnerable children. Continuing this momentum, RPF, South Central Railway has been playing a crucial role in identifying, rescuing and reuniting runaway, missing and vulnerable children with their families under ‘Operation Nanhe Farishte’.

As part of ‘Operation Nanhe Farishte’, RPF, SCR rescued and rehabilitated 512 children found in vulnerable circumstances at railway stations and aboard trains during January to May, 2026. The rescued children, 421 boys and 91 girls were safely handed over to Child Welfare Committees for further care. The sustained efforts of the force are reflected in the rescue of 1622 children during the year 2025 and 1390 children during 2024. The sheer scale of this operation underscores the unwavering commitment of RPF personnel in safeguarding children and ensuring their safe return to their families.

As part of Operation ‘Nanhe Farishte’, RPF teams conduct regular surveillance and intensive monitoring across railway stations and trains to identify children who may be in distress or at risk. The force also works in close coordination with child protection agencies to ensure timely intervention and rehabilitation. In addition, continuous sensitization and training programs are conducted for RPF personnel to enhance their ability to recognize subtle signs of distress, vulnerability in children and respond effectively.

Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway appreciated the RPF team, SCR for their dedicated efforts in rescuing and protecting vulnerable children under Operation Nanhe Farishte. He advised the team to continue the good work with the same commitment and vigilance in the future. The General Manager also appealed to the rail users to support this initiative by being the eyes and ears of RPF. He called upon the public to immediately dial Railway helpline number 139, in case they notice any child who is alone or in distressed condition on trains and Railway stations.
