హైదరాబాద్ : భారతదేశంలో నేడు మహిళా జర్నలిస్టులు చట్టపరమైన బెదిరింపులు, వృత్తిపరమైన ఒంటరితనం మరియు నిరంతర ఆన్లైన్ ట్రోలింగ్ రూపంలో వేధింపులను తప్పడం లేదని ప్రొ. పద్మజా షా ఆవేదన వ్యక్త పర్చారు. ప్రపంచ వ్యాప్తంగా గుర్తింపు పొందిన ప్రఖ్యాత పాత్రికేయులు, అంబేద్కర్ ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ మాజీ వీసీ ప్రొ. యస్. బషీరుద్దీన్ 90వ జయంతిని పురస్కరించుకుని అంబేద్కర్ సార్వత్రిక విశ్వవిద్యాలయంలో స్మారకోపన్యాసం నిర్వహించారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి ముఖ్య అతిథిగా ఉస్మానియా విశ్వవిద్యాలయ జర్నలిజం విభాగ రిటైర్డ్ అధ్యాపకురాలు ప్రొ. పద్మజా షా హాజరయ్యారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా బషీరుద్దిన్ చిత్ర పటానికి నివాళి అర్పించి “జర్నలిజంపై మహిళల ప్రభావం” అనే అంశంపై స్మారకోపన్యాసం చేశారు.
ప్రొ. పద్మజా షా మాట్లాడుతూ ప్రొ. బషీరుద్దీన్ జర్నలిజం విభాగ భవిష్యత్తును ముందు చూపుతో అభివ్రుద్ధిబాటలో నడిపించారని, ఈ ప్రక్రియలో ఆయన మహిళలను అద్భుతమైన మార్గాల్లో నిపుణులుగా తీర్చిదిద్దారని ప్రొఫెసర్ పద్మజా కొనియాడారు. ప్రపంచ దేశవ్యాప్తంగా, మహిళలు చట్టపరమైన, సామాజిక, మేధోపరమైన అడ్డంకులను అధిగమించి జర్నలిజాన్ని పునర్నిర్మించారన్నారు. మహిళా పాత్రికేయులు, లింగ, హక్కులు, న్యాయం కోసం ఉద్యమించారని, తద్వారా దేశంలో మహిళలు నేడు ఆచరిస్తున్న పరిశోధనాత్మక జర్నలిజంకు పునాది వేసిందని వివరించారు.
మహిళా జర్నలిస్టులకు, అడ్డంకులు నిత్యం ఎదురవుతున్నాయని, వారి వారి స్వేచ్చా, స్వతంత్ర అభిప్రాయాలకు అంతగా విలువ లేకుండా పాలకులు అడ్డుకుంటున్నారని విమర్శించారు. దేశంలో మహిళలకు ఆస్తి హక్కు లేకుండా, వారికి ఆర్థిక స్వాతంత్ర్యం రాకుండా ఇప్పటికీ అడ్డు పడుతున్నారని ఇది చాలా ప్రమాదకరమని వివరించారు. మహిళలు జర్నలిజం నైపుణ్యాన్ని మాత్రమే కాకుండా, ధైర్యాన్ని కూడా కోరుకుంటున్నారని కానీ ఇప్పటికీ దేశంలో ఇది సాధ్య పడట్లేదన్నారు. జాతీయ ఉద్యమ సమయంలో మహిళా జర్నలిస్టులు పత్రికలలో మహిళల హక్కులను స్వయం పాలన ఆవశ్యకతను ప్రస్తావిస్తూ సమాజాన్ని జాగృత పర్చారన్నారు.

ప్రాంతాల వారిగా మహిళా జర్నలిస్టులు “వార్తలు”గా పరిగణించబడే వాటిని ఎప్పుడూ విస్మరిచలేదన్నారు. గృహ శ్రమను ఆర్థిక పనిగా, వివాహ చట్టాలను చట్టపరమైన అసమానతగా, విద్యను పౌరసత్వంగా, మహిళలపై హింసను ప్రైవేట్ విషయంగా కాకుండా ప్రజా నేరంగా ఉద్గాటిస్తూ తమ తమ కళాలకు పదును పెట్టారన్నారు. అలాంటి వారి కోవలో ప్రఖ్యాత మహిళా పాత్రికేయులుగా గుర్తింపు పొందిన వారిలో స్వర్ణ కుమారి దేవి, పండితా రామా భాయి, మాలిని సుబ్రహ్మణ్యం, నేహా దీక్షిత్, రేవతి, స్వాతి చతుర్వేది, రీతు సైరిన్ లాంటి వాళ్ళు ఉన్నారని పేర్కొంటూ వారి ప్రస్థానం గురించి ప్రొ. పద్మజా షా వివరించారు. మహిళా జర్నలిస్టులు స్వతంత్రంగా పనిచేయడానికి ఇష్టపడతారని, కానీ యాజమాన్యాలు వార్తకు విలువ ఇవ్వనప్పుడు వారు స్వతంత్ర జర్నలిస్టులుగా మారి తమ గళం సమాజానికి ఉపయోగపడేలా నిలిచారని ఆమె వివరించారు.
ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి విశ్వవిద్యాలయ ఉపకులపతి ఆచార్య ఘంటా చక్రపాణి అధ్యక్షత వహించారు. ఆయన మాట్లాడుతూ విశ్వవిద్యాలయ అభివృద్ధికి ప్రొ. బషీరుద్దీన్ చేసిన సేవలు మరువలేనివని, అంబేద్కర్ వర్శీటీకి మౌళిక వసతుల ఏర్పాటులో ఆయన పాత్ర మరవలేనిదని కొనియాడారు. దేశ వ్యాప్తంగా ప్రొ. బషీరుద్దీన్ గారికి ఉన్న గుర్తింపు అంతా ఇంతా కాదని, తన పలుకుబడిని ఉపయోగించి విశ్వవిద్యాలయ నిర్మాణానికి, వ్యాప్తికి కృషి చేశారని వివరించారు. ప్రస్తుత పరిస్థితుల్లో సమాజాన్ని జాగృతం చేయడంలో మీడియా ఆశించిన స్థాయిలో పనిచేయడం లేదని ప్రొ. ఘంటా చక్రపాణి ఆందోళన వ్యక్తం చేశారు. పాత్రికేయులు, మీడియా సంస్థలు సామాన్యులకు అండగా నిలవడంలో, ప్రజా సమస్యల పరిష్కారంపై దృష్టి సారించడంలో అటు పాత్రికేయులు, ఇటు మీడియా సంస్థలు తమ తమ పాత్రను పోషించాలని సూచించారు.
కార్యక్రమంలో విశ్వవిద్యాలయ రిజిస్ట్రార్ డా. ఎల్. విజయ కృష్ణారెడ్డి కార్యక్రమ ఆవశ్యకతను వివరిస్తు, ముఖ్య అతిథిని సభకు పరిచయం చేశారు. కార్యక్రమంలో మీడియా అకాడమీ మాజీ చైర్మన్ దేవులపల్లి అమర్ పాల్గొని భారతీయ పాత్రికేయ రంగానికి ప్రొ. యస్. బషీరుద్దీన్ చేసిన సేవలను గుర్తు చేశారు. జర్నలిజం విభాగ అసిస్టెంట్ ప్రొఫెసర్ డా. సునీల్ కుమార్ పోతన వందన సమర్పణ చేయగా కార్యక్రమంలో అన్ని విభాగాల అధిపతులు, డీన్స్, అన్ని ఉద్యోగ సంఘాల నాయకులు పాల్గొన్నారు.

Hyderabad : Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University organized Prof. S. Bashiruddin Memorial Lecture on “Impact of Women on Journalism” at its campus as part of 90th Birth anniversary of Prof. S. Bashiruddin, Former Vice-Chancellor on Tuesday. Prof. Padmaja Shah, Retired Professor, Department of Journalism, Osmania University was attended as Chief Guest for the program and delivered a lecture on “Impact of Women on Journalism”.
Prof. Padmaja said Prof Bashiruddin shaped the future of the Journalism fraternity in a substantive way, and in the process shaped us as professionals in remarkable ways, forward-looking manner, and in the process, he trained women as professionals in wonderful ways. Prof. Padmaja Shah said lamented that women journalists in India today face constant harassment in the form of legal threats, professional isolation and constant online trolling. The women across the world have rebuilt journalism by overcoming legal, social and intellectual barriers, explained that women journalists have campaigned for gender, rights and justice, thereby laying the foundation for the investigative journalism practiced by women in the country today.
Prof. Shah criticized that women journalists face obstacles all the time, and that rulers are hindering them without giving much value to their free and independent opinions. It is very dangerous that women in the country are still prevented from having property rights and financial independence. Women not only want journalism skills but also courage, but this is still not possible in the country. During the national movement, women journalists raised awareness in the press about women’s rights and the need for self-governance. Women journalists from different regions never ignored what was considered “news”. They sharpened their skills by portraying domestic work as an economic task, marriage laws as legal inequality, education as citizenship, and violence against women as a public crime rather than a private matter.
Among such women, renowned women journalists include Swarna Kumari Devi, Pandita Rama Bhai, Malini Subramaniam, Neha Dixit, Revathi, Swati Chaturvedi, and Ritu Sairin, Prof. Padmaja Shah explained their journey. She also explained that women journalists prefer to work independently, but when management does not value the news, they become independent journalists and use their voices to benefit society.
