డిసెంబర్ 4న అంబేద్కర్ వర్సిటీలో రామ్ రెడ్డి స్మారకోపన్యాసంలో ప్రధానం
హైదరాబాద్ : దూర విద్యా విధానంలో దేశవ్యాప్తంగా అత్యుత్తమ సేవలు అందించినందుకు గాను 2025 సవత్సరానికి ఇందిరా గాంధీ నేషనల్ ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ (ఇగ్నో) వీసీ ప్రొ.ఉమా కాంజిలాల్ కు ప్రొ. జి. రామ్ రెడ్డి ఎక్సలెన్స్ అవార్డు అందించనున్నట్లు డా. బి. ఆర్. అంబేద్కర్ ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ వీసీ ప్రొ. ఘంటా చక్రపాణి పేర్కొన్నారు. డిసెంబర్ 4న అంబేద్కర్ వర్సిటీ ప్రాంగణంలో జరిగే ప్రొ. జి. రాం రెడ్డి జయంతి వేడుకల్లో భాగంగా నిర్వహించే కార్యక్రమంలో ఈ అవార్డు ను ప్రధానం చేయనున్నట్లు వెల్లడించారు. డా. బీ. ఆర్. అంబేడ్కర్ ఓపెన్ యునివర్సిటి, ప్రొ. జి. రామ్ రెడ్డి మెమోరియల్ ట్రస్ట్, సంయుక్తంగా ఈ కార్యక్రమాన్ని నిర్వహిస్తున్నట్లు పేర్కొన్నారు.
దేశంలో దూర విద్యా వ్యాప్తికి ప్రొఫెసర్ రాం రెడ్డి సేవలు తెలిసిందే. దేశంలోనే మొట్టమెదటి ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ డా. బి. అంబేద్కర్ ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ స్థాపించడంలో కీలక పాత్ర పోషించడమే కాకుండా ఆ విశ్వవిద్యాలయ వ్యవస్థాపక వీసీగా ప్రొ. రాం రెడ్డి ఉన్నారు. అంతేకాకుండా న్యూఢిల్లీ లోని ఇందిరా గాంధీ నేషనల్ ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ ఏర్పాటులో కీలక భూమిక పోషించి ఆ యూనివర్సిటీ మొట్ట మొదటి వీసీగా ప్రొ. జి. రాం రెడ్డి పనిచేశారు. దేశంలో దూర విద్యా వ్యాప్తికి ఆయన చేసిన సేవలను గుర్తిస్తూ ప్రతీ సంవత్సరం ప్రొ. రాం రెడ్డి పేరున ఈ అవార్డును దూర విద్యలో విశేష సేవలు అందిస్తున్న వారికి అందించనున్నట్లు వీసీ ప్రొ. ఘంటా చక్రపాణి వెల్లడించారు. గురువారం విశ్వవిద్యాలయం లో నిర్వహించనున్న స్మారకోపన్యాస కార్యక్రమానికి అస్సాం ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ వీసీ ప్రొ. రాజేంద్ర ప్రసాద్ దాస్ ముఖ్య అతిథిగా హాజరై స్మారకోపన్యాసం చేయనున్నట్లు తెలిపారు.

Hyderabad: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Uma Kanjilal will be conferred with the Prof. G. Ram Reddy Award for Excellence in Distance Education for the year 2025 for her outstanding contribution to the field of Open Distance Learning across the country, Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani Vice-Chancellor, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University said in a press statement. Prof.Chakrapani stated that the award will be presented on the occasion of Prof. Ram Reddy birth anniversary on 4th December. Dr. Ambedkar Open University and Prof. G. Ram Reddy Memorial Trust are jointly organizing the Prof.G.Ram Reddy Memorial lecture to mark this occasion.
Prof. Ram Reddy’s services to the cause of distance education in the country are immense. Prof. Ram Reddy not only played a key role in establishing the first open university in the country, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University, but was also its founding Vice-Chancellor. Prof. Ram Reddy also played a key role in establishing the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in New Delhi and served as the first VC of IGNOU. In recognition of his services to the field of distance education in the country, this award will be given in his honour every year to those who have rendered special services in Open Distance Learning. Prof. Rajendra Prasad Das, Vice-Chancellor, Assam Open University will be the chief guest and will deliver the memorial lecture.
