Modi Govt Stabilized Fuel Prices Amid Global Turmoil: BJP Chief N Ramachander Rao

Hyderabad : Telangana State BJP President N Ramchander Rao today pointed out that the world is currently facing severe international economic and geopolitical crises. Ramchander Ra Speaking at the ‘Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Prashikshana Taragathulu – 2026’ (Training Classes) at Kammam he said that escalating Iran-US tensions and a war-like situation in West Asia have put immense pressure on the global oil market.

Highlighted the central government’s efficient economic management amid global instability, Rao explained that “India produces only about 10 per cent of its required crude oil domestically and relies heavily on imports for the rest,”. “Despite skyrocketing crude oil prices in the international market, fuel price hikes in India have been strictly limited. This is a testament to the effective management of the Central Government.” While launching a scathing attack on the opposition parties, the BJP state chief criticized the Congress, the INDIA bloc, and the BRS in Telangana for resorting to political opportunism the moment petrol and diesel prices see minor fluctuations. He termed it “irresponsible politics,” accusing them of triggering panic for political gains without explaining the global realities to the public.

To put the situation into perspective, Rao provided a comparative analysis of global fuel price hikes stating that several nations witnessed a 15 to 26 per cent spike in fuel costs. In Ireland diesel prices soared by 28 per cent while petrol surged by 25 per cent. In Pakistan the crisis is severe with diesel prices skyrocketing by 54.9 per cent and petrol by 42.7 per cent. The Pakistani government has openly admitted its inability to sustain subsidies due to international market pressures, he said. “While global fuel prices surged between 25 and 100 per cent, India restricted its price hike to a mere Rs 3 approximately. This is a direct result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foresight and strategic decisions on energy security,” Rao emphasized.

Accusing the Congress of misleading the public, Rao alleged that the nation is still paying the price for the economic mismanagement of the previous UPA regime. He claimed that instead of passing on benefits to citizens when international oil prices fell, the Congress-led government issued “Oil Bonds,” passing on a debt burden of lakhs of crores to future generations. “Borrowing recklessly for short-term political gains and dumping the financial liability on subsequent governments has always been the Congress policy,” he remarked.

Turning his focus to regional politics, Rao slammed the Congress government in Telangana for failing to implement its poll promises. He raised concerns over the pending fee reimbursement and scholarship arrears, which have accumulated to over ₹10,000 crores. He accused the state government of playing with the futures of poor and middle-class students. Reminding the public of the historical context of Telangana’s statehood, Rao asserted that the BJP played a crucial role in its formation. He questioned whether Telangana would have become a reality had the late BJP senior leader Sushma Swaraj not strongly backed the Telangana Bill in Parliament.

“While Congress and BRS falsely claim sole credit for the creation of Telangana, the public must recognize the reality that the formation of the state would have been impossible without the steadfast support of the BJP,” Rao said. BJP state chief also visited Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Khammam and participated in the Ayudha Puja programme. He said that Ayudha Puja reflects Bharat’s great civilisational tradition of worshipping weapons which are sources of strength.
