Hyderabad : Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), a leading Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at its Kanchanbagh campus in Hyderabad. The celebrations commenced with Vande Mataram and a tribute to Bharat Mata, setting a solemn and patriotic tone for the occasion. This was followed by the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag by Dr. S. V. S. Narayana Murty, CMD, MIDHANI, in the presence of K. Madhubala, Director (Finance), P. Babu, Director (Production and Marketing), senior officials, members of the Recognised Union, employees, CISF personnel, guests and members of the MIDHANI family. The National Anthem was thereafter sung with pride and reverence. A CISF parade was conducted as part of the celebrations, showcasing discipline, alertness and dedication to the security of the nation. The parade was followed by the address of Dr. S. V. S. Narayana Murty, CMD, MIDHANI.
In his address, the CMD extended his warm greetings to all employees and their families on the occasion of Independence Day. He highlighted MIDHANI’s significant contribution to India’s defence preparedness, strategic sectors and indigenous manufacturing capabilities, particularly through its expertise in special steels, superalloys, titanium and other advanced materials. Emphasising the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, Dr. Narayana Murty stated that the journey towards a developed and self-reliant India requires collective commitment, technological excellence and continuous innovation. He called upon the MIDHANI fraternity to remain focused on quality, productivity, innovation, indigenisation and customer satisfaction, while strengthening the rganisation’s contribution to the nation’s strategic requirements.

Highlighting the organisation’s recent achievements, the CMD emphasised that NADCAP certification for MIDHANI’s Heat Treatment (HT) Shop and the S-400 approval from GE Aerospace have further strengthened MIDHANI’s capabilities and global credentials. He stated that these significant milestones will open up new opportunities for MIDHANI to expand its presence in international markets and increase exports, thereby contributing to the nation’s foreign exchange earnings and strengthening India’s position in the global aerospace and defence supply chain. The CMD also acknowledged the dedication and commitment of the MIDHANI workforce and emphasised that people are the organisation’s greatest strength. He called upon every employee to take ownership of their responsibilities and contribute towards building a stronger, more self-reliant and technologically advanced India.
The programme also featured a vibrant cultural presentation by the students of BPDAV School, comprising group songs, folk dance and patriotic dance performances. The performances reflected the spirit of patriotism, cultural diversity and the aspirations of the younger generation, adding colour and enthusiasm to the celebrations. The occasion also provided an opportunity to recognise and appreciate excellence and achievement. Cash awards and certificates were presented to meritorious wards of employees belonging to the SC, ST and OBC categories. Awards were also presented to Best Employees in different categories and to employee who completed 15 years of dedicated service in MIDHANI.

Outstanding achievements in sports, including team events and individual events, were also recognised. The felicitation of employees and achievers highlighted MIDHANI’s commitment to encouraging excellence, talent and a culture of appreciation within the organisation. The Independence Day programme was organised under the leadership of the MIDHANI Welfare Committee, with the active participation and support of employees and various departments. The celebrations concluded on a patriotic note, reaffirming MIDHANI’s unwavering commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat, indigenous defence production and the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. The occasion also renewed the collective resolve of the MIDHANI fraternity to contribute with greater dedication, innovation and excellence towards building a strong and self-reliant India.
