Hyderabad: Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), under the aegis of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (Undertakings) [TOLIC (U)], Hyderabad–Secunderabad, organized a “Hindi Word Processing on Computer” Competition. The competition aimed to encourage the effective use of Hindi on computers among officers and employees of member organizations and to enhance proficiency in the use of the Official Language, Hindi.

The competition was inaugurated by M. P. Ramesh, Additional General Manager (HR) (In-charge – Security, EMS & Training and Development). Addressing the participants, he emphasized that the effective use of Hindi in the digital era is the need of the hour and that developing proficiency in Hindi computing in Public Sector Undertakings is essential for the effective implementation of the Official Language Policy. He encouraged participants to promote the use of Hindi in their respective organizations.

On the occasion, Ramesh also expressed his gratitude to TOLIC (Undertakings) for conferring the Official Language Shield on MIDHANI for the year 2025–26 and for providing MIDHANI with the opportunity to host this prestigious competition. The competition assessed participants’ skills in Unicode-based Hindi typing, Hindi word processing, document creation, editing, and overall proficiency in working in Hindi on computers.

The evaluator for the competition, Santosh Kumar, Assistant Director (Typing & Stenography), Central Hindi Training Sub-Institute, Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, briefed the participants on the structure of the question paper, examination procedure, and evaluation criteria.

The programme was attended by Ashish Kirodiwal, Member of the Executive Committee of TOLIC (Undertakings), and Smt. Usharani, Additional Officer (Commercial & Operations), who served as observers. Ms. V.K.S. Mahalakshmi (ECIL) attended as the representative of TOLIC (Undertakings).

Participants from various member organizations of TOLIC (Undertakings) enthusiastically took part in the competition. They represented organizations including National Fertilizers Limited, MIDHANI, National Seeds Corporation Limited, BHEL (Ramachandrapuram), Airports Authority of India, Food Corporation of India, ECIL, Security Printing Press, Government of India Mint, BSNL, NMDC Limited, Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), RailTel Corporation of India Limited, and others.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. B. Balaji, Manager (Hindi Section & Corporate Communications), MIDHANI, who also briefed the participants about the competition format and rules. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the participants, evaluator, and distinguished guests.
