BRAOU inaugurated a two-day national seminar
Hyderabad : Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, in collaboration with Telangana State Council for Higher Education, Inaugurated Two days National Seminar on “Future of Journalism in the AI Era : Opportunities and Challenges” on 17th October, 2025 at University Campus, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.The Chief Guest Dr. K. Keshava Rao, Advisor (Public Affairs), Government of Telangana said that good things can only happen if human intelligence is combined with artificial intelligence.
Keshava Rao said that dissemination of information with values is necessary. He revealed that there is no technology that is beyond conscience. He revealed that news review and verification are essential. He suggested that journalistic profession should continue with accuracy and authenticity by combining news values with technology. He said that artificial intelligence is an advanced tool to facilitate the news gathering and process. He said that fake news currently being broadcast and printed should be checked. He said that complete understanding of technology is important.
He revealed that artificial intelligence works on algorithms based on Western-centric socio-cultural, morals and values. He said that content presentation should be with accuracy, reliability and values. He suggested that readers should be reached with smart work. He explained that artificial intelligence does not have complete understanding compared to human intelligence, and that journalists need to change information in a socio-cultural context. He suggested that journalists should promote social integration. He opined that fake news is spreading rapidly and that every piece of information needs to be verified. He urged that journalistic values and principles must be followed.

Prof. DVR Murthy, Vice-Chancellor, Andhra Kesari University, Ongole was the Keynote speaker. Prof Murthy said that four decades ago, it was clear what was news and what was not news. He said that now everything has become news without any such check. He said that there is no proper control over the news industry in India. He revealed that many surveys have concluded that artificial intelligence is not being used ethically in many media industries.
He said that public opinion has revealed that the news generated by artificial intelligence is not credible and that there are many misconceptions. He said that twenty years ago, news meant conflicts, ten years ago, tragic events were considered news, and now humor is being added to the news. He said that without humor, one cannot listen to or watch news for more than two or three minutes. He revealed that despite the use of technology, credibility, news objectives, and news values are essential. He suggested that journalism education curricula with values should be created.
Distinguished Guest Smt. Sruti Patil, IIS, Additional Director General, PIB & CBC, Hyderabad speaking on the occasion said that artificial intelligence should be used ethically for opportunities such as speed, efficiency, investigative and impactful journalism, including data journalism, personalization, and fact-checking tools. The artificial intelligence has become a part of the management of the journalistic profession. She suggested that the technology should be ensured efficiently and with proper scrutiny.
Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani, BRAOU presided over the program.Prof. Chakrapani said that artificial intelligence is transforming various industries across the world. Indian journalism is ready for digital transformation. He said that there are challenges such as content reliability, job stability in the media sector, and integrity of editorial practices. The leading Indian media houses are rapidly adopting artificial intelligence. Regional and local publications are facing challenges related to digital literacy and infrastructure.
He explained the role of media in the country and the way media houses are operating. He said that there is a need to discuss the application of artificial intelligence in news media in increasing efficiency, improving resources, as well as increasing outcomes and impact. He was proud of the number of journalists studying in Ambedkar Open University every year while referring to the journalism course offered by the university.
Dr L Vijaya Krishna Reddy, Registrar said the artificial intelligence and many technological advancements have had a significant impact on society. It has caused many changes in public relations, advertising, media, especially social media. It has changed aspects of journalism including media relations, content, and journalistic working conditions.
Prof. Vaddanam Srinivas, Seminar Director, Dean, Social Sciences explain about the seminar. He also said that the vast digital transformation that has taken place in the last decade has permanently changed the way news is collected, reported and distributed. The widespread use of smartphones, the growth of social media platforms, and advances in artificial intelligence have increased the complexity while expanding the scope. Two technical sessions and a panel discussion were held on the first day of the conference. Research papers were presented by representatives from various fields. హైదరాబాద్ : కృత్రిమ మేథస్సుతో మానవ మేథస్సును మిళితం చేస్తేనే మంచి పరిమాణాలు చోటు చేసుకుంటాయని ప్రభుత్వ సలహాదారు డా. కె. కేశవరావు అన్నారు. డా.బి.ఆర్.అంబేద్కర్ సార్వత్రిక విశ్వవిద్యాలయం, జర్నలిజం మాస్ కమ్యూనికేషన్ శాఖ, తెలంగాణ ఉన్నత విద్యామండలి ఆధ్వర్యంలో “కృత్రిమ మేధస్సు యుగంలో జర్నలిజం భవిష్యత్తు: అవకాశాలు, సవాళ్లు” అనే అంశంపై రెండు రోజుల జాతీయ సదస్సు శుక్రవారం ప్రారంభమైంది. తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వ సలహాదారు (ప్రజా వ్యవహారాలు) డా. కె. కేశవరావు ముఖ్య అతిథిగా హాజరై మాట్లాడుతూ కృత్రిమ మేథస్సుతో మానవ మేథస్సును మిళితం చేస్తేనే మంచి పరిమాణాలు చోటు చేసుకుంటాయని కేశవ రావు పేర్కొన్నారు.
విలువలతో కూడిన సమాచార వ్యాప్తి అవసరమని చెప్పారు. మనస్సాక్షిని మించిన సాంకేతికత లేదని వెల్లడించారు. వార్తల పునర్ సమీక్షా, తనిఖీ తప్పనిసరని వెల్లడించారు. వార్తా విలువలను సాంకేతితతో జత చేసి కచ్చితత్వం, ప్రామాణికతతో పాత్రికేయ వృతి కొనసాగాలని సూచించారు. వార్తల సేకరణ, ప్రక్రియను సులభతరం చేయడానికి కృత్రిమ మేథ అనేది అధునాత సాధనమని చెప్పారు. ప్రస్తుతం ప్రసారమతున్న, ముద్రితమతున్న నకిలీ వార్తలను సరి చూసుకోవాలని పేర్కొన్నారు. సాంకేతికతపై పూర్తి అవగాహన ముఖ్యమని చెప్పారు. పాశ్చాత్య కేంద్రీకృత సామాజిక-సాంస్కృతిక, నైతికత, విలువలపై ఆధారపడిన అల్గోరిథంలపై కృత్రిమ మేథ పనిచేస్తుందని వెల్లడించారు.
కచ్చితత్వం, విశ్వసనీయత, విలువలతో కంటెంట్ ప్రెజెంటేషన్ ఉండాలని పేర్కొన్నారు. స్మార్ట్ వర్క్ తో పాఠకులను చేరాలని సూచించారు. మనిషి మేధస్సుతో పోల్చితే కృత్రిమ మేథకు పూర్తి అవగాహనా ఉండదని, సామాజిక-సాంస్కృతికంగా సందర్భోచితంగా సమాచారాన్ని జర్నలిస్టులు మార్చాల్సిన అవసరం ఉందని వివరించారు. సమాజ ఏకీకరణను జర్నలిస్ట్ లు ప్రోత్సహించాలని సూచించారు. నకిలీ వార్తలు వేగంగా వ్యాప్తి చెందుతున్నాయని, ప్రతీ సమాచారాన్ని ధ్రువీకరించాల్సిన అవసరం ఉందని అభిప్రాయబడ్డారు. పాత్రికేయ విలువలు, సూత్రాలను తప్పనిసరిగా పాటించాలని కోరారు.
ప్రారంభోత్సవ కార్యక్రమంలో ఆంధ్ర కేసరి విశ్వవిద్యాలయ ఉపకులపతి ప్రొ. డి వి ఆర్ మూర్తి కీలకోపన్యాసం చేసారు. నాలుగు దశాబ్దాల క్రితం ఏది వార్త, ఏది వార్త కాదో స్పష్టంగా తెలిసేదాని అన్నారు. ప్రస్తుతం అలంటి తనిఖీ లేకుండానే ప్రతి ఒక్కటీ వార్తగా మారిపోయిందని చెప్పారు. భారత దేశంలో వార్త సంపదకీయానికి సరైన నియంత్రణ లేదని చెప్పారు. చాలా మీడియా పరిశ్రమల్లో నైతికతతో కృత్రిమ మేథస్సును ఉపయోగించడం లేదనే అనేక సర్వేలు తేల్చాయని వెల్లడించారు. కృత్రిమ మేథస్సు సృష్టించిన వార్తల్లో విశ్వసనీయత లేదని, అనేక అపోహలు ఉన్నాయని ప్రజాభీప్రాయంలో వెల్లడైందని చెప్పారు. ఇరవై ఏళ్ల క్రితం వార్తలు అంటే సంఘర్షణలు అని, పదేళ్లక్రితం విషాద సంఘటనలను వార్తలుగా పరిగణించేవారని, ప్రస్తుతం వార్తల్లో హాస్యాన్ని జోడిస్తున్నారని చెప్పారు. హాస్యం లేకుంటే రెండు, మూడు నిమిషాల కంటే ఎక్కువ సేపు వార్తలను వినలేకపోతున్నారని, చూడలేకపోతున్నారని చెప్పారు. సాంకేతికతను వినియోగించున్నప్పటికీ విశ్వసనీయత, వార్తా లక్ష్యాలు, వార్త విలువలు తప్పనిసరని వెల్లడించారు. విలువలతో కూడిన పాత్రికేయ విద్యా పాఠ్యప్రణాళికలను రూపొందించాలని సూచించారు.
కార్యక్రమానికి విశిష్ట అతిథిగా ప్రెస్స్ ఇన్ఫర్మేషన్ బ్యూరో, సెంట్రల్ బ్యూరో అఫ్ కమ్యూనికేషన్ అదనపు డైరెక్టర్ జనరల్ (హైదరాబాద్) శృతి పాటిల్ హాజరై మాట్లాడుతూ వేగం, సామర్థ్యం, పరిశోధనాత్మక, ప్రభావవంతమైన జర్నలిజంతో సహా డేట్ జర్నలిజం, వ్యక్తిగతీకరణ, వాస్తవ తనిఖీ సాధనాలు వంటి అవకాశాల కోసం కృత్రిమ మేథస్సును నైతికతతో ఉపయోగించుకోవాలని అన్నారు. పాత్రికేయ వృత్తి నిర్వహణలో కృత్రిమ మేథస్సు భాగమైందని చెప్పారు. సాంకేతికతను సమర్ధవంతంతగా, సరైన తనిఖీతో నిర్దారించుకోవాలని సూచించారు.
కార్యక్రమానికి అధ్యక్షత వహించిన విశ్వవిద్యాలయ ఉపకులపతి ప్రొ. ఘంటా చక్రపాణి మాట్లాడుతూ ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా వివిధ పరిశ్రమలను కృత్రిమ మేథ మారుస్తోందని అన్నారు. డిజిటల్ పరివర్తనకు భారతీయ జర్నలిజం సిద్ధంగా ఉందని పేర్కొన్నారు. కంటెంట్ విశ్వసనీయత, మీడియా రంగంలో ఉద్యోగ స్థిరత్వం, సంపాదకీయ పద్ధతుల సమగ్రత వంటి సవాళ్లు ఉన్నాయని చెప్పారు. కృత్రిమ మేథను ప్రముఖ భారతీయ మీడియా సంస్థలు వేగంగా స్వీకరిస్తున్నాయని పేర్కొన్నారు.
డిజిటల్ అక్షరాస్యత, మౌలిక సదుపాయాలకు సంబంధించిన సవాళ్లను ప్రాంతీయ, స్థానిక ప్రచురణలు ఎదుర్కొంటున్నాయి.
దేశంలో మీడియా పాత్రను, మీడియా సంస్థలు వ్యవహరిస్తున్న విధానాన్ని వివరించారు. వార్తా మాధ్యమాలలో సామర్థ్యాన్ని పెంచడంలో, వనరులను మెరుగుపరచడంలో, అలాగే పరిణామాలు, ప్రభావాన్ని పెంచడంలో కృత్రిమ మేథ అనువర్తనాన్ని చర్చించాల్సిన అవసరాన్ని ఉందని వెల్లడించారు.
రిజిస్ట్రార్ డా. ఎల్ విజయ కృష్ణా రెడ్డి మాట్లాడుతూ సమాజంపై గణనీయమైన ప్రభావాన్ని కృత్రిమ మేధస్సు, అనేక సాంకేతిక పురోగతులు చూపాయని అన్నారు. ప్రజా సంబంధాలు, ప్రకటనలు, మీడియా, ముఖ్యంగా సోషల్ మీడియాలో అనేక మార్పులకు కారణమైందని వెల్లడించారు. మీడియా సంబంధాలు, కంటెంట్, పాత్రికేయ పని పరిస్థితులతో సహా జర్నలిజం కోణాలను మార్పులకు గురిచేసిందని చెప్పారు.

రెండవ సెషన్ “సినిమా, ఎలక్ట్రానిక్ మీడియాలో కృత్రిమ మేధస్సు, న్యూస్రూమ్లలో AR మరియు VR” చర్చ కార్యక్రమంలో చైర్పర్సన్గా ఉస్మానియా విశ్వవిద్యాలయ ప్రొ. కె. స్టీవెన్సన్ వ్యవహరించారు. ఇమాజినేట్ XR వ్యవస్థాపకులు హేమంత్ సత్యనారాయణ; డా. కె. దయాకర్, డా. మల్లయ్య, తదితరులు పాల్గొని ప్రసంగించారు.

మరోవైపు అన్నవరం దేవేందర్ రాసిన “అట్లనే” కవితా సంపుటిని డా. బిఆర్ అంబేద్కర్ ఓవెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ వైస్ చాన్స్ సర్ ప్రొ. ఘంటా చక్రపాణి ఆవిష్కరించారు. డా. బిఆర్ అంబేద్కర్ ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ మరియు జీవగడ్డ మిత్రులు ఆద్వర్యంలో చావడి వేదిక ద్వారా శుక్రవారం పుస్తకావిష్కరణ కార్యక్రమం నిర్వహించారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో ప్రొఫెసర్ ఘంటా చక్రపాణి మాట్లాడుతూ మేము ఈ రోజు ఇక్కడ నిలబడడానికి కారణం జీవగడ్డ పత్రికనే అని తెలిపారు.
సీనియర్ పాత్రికేయులు అల్లం నారాయణ మాట్లాడుతూ దేవేందర్ తెలంగాణ చరిత్రను తన కవిత్వంలో రాసారని తెలిపారు. జీవగడ్డ లేకపోతే మేము లేమని పేర్కొన్నారు. సీనియర్ పాత్రికేయులు కె. శ్రీనివాస్ దేవేందర్ తెలంగాణ భాషా నుడికారంలో సరళంగా కవిత్వం రాసారన్నారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి తెలుగు శాఖ అధ్యక్షులు ప్రొఫెసర్ ఎన్ రజని అధ్యక్షత వహించగా జీవగడ్డ మిత్రులు మాట్లాడారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో రిజిస్ట్రార్ ఎల్వీకే రెడ్డి, ప్రముఖ కవి అందెశ్రీ, సంగిశెట్టి శ్రీనివాస్, శ్యామ్ ప్రసాద్, యూనివర్శిటీ డైరెక్టర్స్ , డీన్స్, టీచింగ్, నాన్ టీచింగ్ ప్యాకల్టీ తదితరులు పాల్గొన్నారు, ఈ సందర్భంగా అన్నవరం దేవేందర్ పుట్టినరోజు ను ఘనంగా నిర్వహించారు.
