Hyderabad: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Dr B. R. Ambedkar Open University organizing a two-day national seminar on “Future of Journalism in the AI Era: Challenges and Opportunities” during 17 – 18 October 2025 (Friday & Saturday). Over the last decade, Artificial Intelligence has brought about significant technological changes with a profound impact on media. These changes are evident across all aspects of journalism—content, media relations, journalists; working conditions, social media, and the spread of fake news.
The seminar will have broad sub-themes namely: Cross media story telling – cultural, social and technological challenges; Current trends, Future, Global Perspective; AI in Film & Electronic Media; AR and VR in Newsrooms; From Headlines to Deepfakes: Navigating AI’s impact on Media Integrity; and Impact of AI on PR & Corporate Communication: Threats & Opportunities. To give an impetus to the discussion, it is proposed to invite eminent professors and personalities who have immensely contributed to the field of journalism Media studies, Public Relations, Advertising, etc, apart from the resource persons, research contribution will be invited from the interested academicians in the field and other related departments/ organization. Besides the technical sessions, the seminar featured two panel discussions, namely: “Credibility of News in the AI Era” and “Journalism Education and Research in the AI Era.”
The chief guest for the inaugural session (on 17th October, 2025 @ 10.00 a.m.) of the seminar is Dr. K. Keshava Rao, Advisor (Public Affairs), Governmet of Telangana; the distinguished guest is Smt. Shruti Patil, IIS, Additional DG, PIB & Central Bureau of Communication, Hyderabad; and the keynote speaker is Prof. DVR Murthy, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Andhrakesari University, Ongole, Andhra Pradesh. It will be presided over by Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr BR Ambedkar Open University. Guests of honor of the inaugural session of the seminar are Prof. G. Pushpa Chakrapani, Director of Academics,and Dr. L. Vijaya Krishna Reddy (LVK), the Registrar of BRAOU.
The chief guest for the valedictory (on 18th October, 2025 @ 3.00 p.m.) of the seminar is Prof. V. Balakista Reddy, Chairman, Telangana Council of Higher Education; the distinguished guest is K. Sreenivas Reddy, Chairman, Media Academy of Telangana; and the keynote speaker is Mohan Rammoorthy, Associate Dean, Asian College of Journalism, Chennai. ఈ సెమినార్ లో క్రాస్ మీడియా స్టోరీ టెల్లింగ్, సాంస్కృతిక, సామాజిక, సాంకేతిక సవాళ్లు; ప్రస్తుత ధోరణులు, భవిష్యత్తు, ప్రపంచ దృక్పథం; ఫిల్మ్, ఎలక్ట్రానిక్ మీడియాలో ఏఐ; న్యూస్రూమ్లలో ఏ ఆర్, వి ఆర్; డీప్ఫేక్: మీడియా సమగ్రతపై ప్రభావాన్ని తెలుసుకోవడం, ప్రజా సంబంధాలు, కార్పొరేట్ కమ్యూనికేషన్పై ఏఐ ప్రభావం: తదితర అంశాలను ప్రముఖ ప్రొఫెసర్లు, వృత్తి నిపుణులు చర్చిస్తారు. సెమినార్లో రెండు ప్యానెల్ చర్చలు “ ఏ ఐ యుగంలో వార్తల విశ్వసనీయత”, “ఏ ఐ యుగంలో జర్నలిజం విద్య, పరిశోధన” కూడా ఉంటాయి.
