Hyderabad : Telangana State BJP President N Ramchander Rao today alleged that the Congress government’s decision to issuance of Family Register Certificates a backdoor attempt to legalise Rohingyas and Bangladeshi vote banks.
Rao, in a statement, alleged that Revanth Reddy’s government is continuing appeasement policy and it was clear that it is working on the dictates of AIMIM. The AIMIM had publicly demanded that the Congress government issue such certificates to prevent names from being deleted during SIR. Soon thereafter, the government rushed to introduce Family Register Certificates through MeeSeva, he accused.
He expressed concern that the Telangana Congress government’s decision to issue Family Register Certificates in the midst of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) raises grave constitutional, legal, electoral and national security concerns.

The State government is projecting the Family Register Certificate as an acceptable document under the SIR process and claiming that it would help so-called “undocumented people.” This is a calculated attempt to protect and expand the illegal vote-bank politics nurtured by Congress, BRS and AIMIM, Rao alleged and stated that generally, Family Register Certificates have been issued in matters concerning government employees. Expanding the scope of such certificates and issuing them widely during the SIR process creates enormous scope for misuse and manipulation, he said.
BJP state chief claimed that after introducing the Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) in Karnataka, the Congress is now attempting a similar exercise in Telangana through the Family Register Certificate which can be misused to provide legitimacy to undocumented and illegals. These certificates are primarily generated using ration-card records and related family data. They are merely records of family composition and cannot be treated as proof of Indian citizenship, he said.
The Congress, BRS and AIMIM, which have sheltered and nurtured illegal vote banks for decades, can now see their political death warrant in a genuine SIR scrutiny. That is why the Congress government is rushing to issue these certificates and project them as valid documents for inclusion in the electoral rolls, Rao said.
The issue is even more alarming from the perspective of national security, he said adding that issuing such certificates without proper verification of Indian citizenship could facilitate the integration of illegal immigrants into the State’s administrative framework, posing a serious threat to national security and public order.
BJP chief said issuance of Family Registered Certificate is nothing but a backdoor attempt to protect ineligible names and dilute the scrutiny of electoral rolls. A ration card, an Aadhaar entry or a Family Register Certificate cannot confer Indian citizenship. Citizenship and eligibility to vote must be established strictly in accordance with the Constitution and the law, he said.
The BJP would not allow a single illegal Bangladeshi, Pakistani national or any Rohingya residing unlawfully enrolled on electoral rolls through the SIR process in Telangana and India, Rao said and warned that we will fight this battle on the streets and in the courts and ensure that every eligible Indian citizen remains on the electoral rolls and that every illegal and ineligible entry is removed.
