Hyderabad : Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), a Mini Ratna Category-I Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 with great enthusiasm through a series of programmes promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and holistic health among its employees.

The celebrations were organised in line with this year’s International Day of Yoga theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The programmes reflected MIDHANI’s unwavering commitment towards fostering a healthy workplace culture and encouraging employees to adopt yoga as an integral part of their daily lives.

As a prelude to the International Day of Yoga celebrations, a special awareness programme titled “Yoga at Office – Integrating Wellness into the Workplace” was organised on 17 June 2026 at the Centre of Excellence (COE) Auditorium. The session was delivered by renowned motivational speaker, physician, internationally acclaimed yoga practitioner and former Miss Earth India Dr. Tejaswini Monogna. During her insightful address, she explained how regular yoga practice helps improve physical health, emotional stability, concentration, stress management and overall productivity. She encouraged employees to integrate simple yoga practices into their daily routine, stating that even a few minutes of yoga every day can significantly enhance efficiency, positivity and work-life balance.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. S.V.S. Narayan Murty, Chairman & Managing Director, MIDHANI, described yoga as India’s timeless gift to humanity and a holistic science that harmonises the body, mind and spirit. Referring to the Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 7, Verse 4), he quoted:
“Bhūmir āpo’nalo vāyuḥ khaṁ mano buddhir eva cha;
Ahaṅkāra itīyaṁ me bhinnā prakṛtir aṣṭadhā.”

Explaining the significance of the verse, he stated that the eight constituents of nature—Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Space, Mind, Intellect and Ego—form the very foundation of human existence. Yoga enables an individual to establish harmony among these elements, resulting in physical fitness, mental clarity, emotional stability and spiritual well-being.

He further urged employees to make yoga a lifelong habit rather than restricting it to a single day of celebration. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of employees in the International Day of Yoga initiatives and expressed confidence that the practice of yoga would contribute significantly towards improving individual well-being, workplace harmony and organizational productivity.

As part of the main celebrations, a Mass Yoga Practice Session was organised on 21 June 2026 at the COE Building Lawn. The yoga session was conducted by Smt. Addressing the participants on the occasion, P. He further observed that healthy individuals build healthy families, healthy organisations and ultimately a healthy nation. Stressing the importance of adopting yoga as a daily lifestyle practice, he said that regular yoga improves physical fitness, enhances concentration, reduces stress and develops emotional resilience.

He added that by taking care of our own health, we not only strengthen ourselves but also contribute towards creating a healthier society, a stronger nation and a more peaceful and beautiful world for future generations. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of employees and encouraged them to continue practising yoga throughout the year.
