Hyderabad: South Central Railway has been conferred with the prestigious National Signal and Telecommunication (S and T) Award at the International Convention and Exhibition, 2026 organized jointly by the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE), Indian Section and the Institution of Railway Signal and Telecommunication Engineers (IRSTE) under the aegis of the Ministry of Railways. The award was presented at New Delhi on 12th June, 2026.
The International Convention and Exhibition-2026 was held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from 10th to 13th June, 2026. The event focused on designing, developing and manufacturing AI-driven next-generation railway control, command and signalling systems for the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Around 10,000 delegates representing 30 Railway organizations, 25 premier academic institutions and nearly 200 exhibitors participated in the exhibition. The convention comprised of technical seminars and exhibitions showcasing advanced technologies, innovative platforms and solutions for the Indian Railways system. Awards were also presented to Railways and other agencies in recognition of outstanding performance across various categories.

On this occasion, South Central Railway was adjudged the Best Performing Zonal Railway and honored with the National Signal and Telecommunication Award for setting benchmarks and consistently demonstrating excellence in the implementation of Kavach and Digital Electronic Interlocking Systems.

SCR has made significant progress in the deployment of Kavach Version 4.0, successfully conducting trials and accelerating its implementation across the Zone. Simultaneously, the Zone has undertaken modernization of signalling systems through the commissioning of Digital Electronic Interlocking Systems at important Railway stations in the zone. During the financial year 2025–26, SCR has commissioned 21 Digital Electronic Interlocking Systems, implemented Kavach 4.0 over 486 Route Kms and commissioned Automatic Block Signalling over 479 Route Kms, further strengthening safety and operational efficiency.

Murali Krishna, Principal Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineer, SCR, along with his team met Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, SCR at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad today and appraised him on the achievement. The General Manager commended the efforts and dedication of the S and T team which helped in the zone receiving this prestigious National recognition. He stated that the modernization of signalling and communication systems is essential for effective system monitoring and safe train operations. He advised the officers and staff of S and T department to maintain the same momentum during the current financial year.
