Hyderabad: MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has written a letter to the Telangana Minister for Tourism, Jupalli Krishna Rao, demanding that the government organize grand celebrations for the centenary of Dasharathi Krishnamacharyulu, a prominent poet and freedom fighter.
In her letter, BRS MLC Kavitha highlighted that the former Chief Minister, KCR’s government, had allocated funds to establish a Dasharathi Memorial at the old jail in Nizamabad, where he was imprisoned. She requested further government support to enhance the memorial and transform it into a major tourist destination with additional arrangements and repairs.
MLC Kavitha demanded that the government expand the celebrations, which began on July 22 of the previous year, and organize year-long events to commemorate his legacy. She suggested holding significant ceremonies to mark the conclusion of the centenary celebrations at both the school and state levels. Kavitha also recommended installing a statue of Dasharathi at a prominent location in Hyderabad and establishing a memorial garden in his birthplace, Chinna Gudooru, Mahabubabad district. Additionally, she requested the construction of a new building for the Dasharathi Library in the village and the publication of his works for public access.
Kavitha further urged the government to ensure that these celebrations serve as a historical moment for Telangana to honor its roots, preserve its cultural heritage, and inspire future generations with Dasharathi’s spirit. She emphasized that this would be a fitting tribute to a man who played an instrumental role in shaping the identity of the state.
In her letter, MLC Kavitha also underscored the poet’s significant role in Telangana’s cultural and political history, quoting his famous lines that reflected the region’s resistance and pride. She noted that, despite being imprisoned, Krishnamacharyulu continued to inspire through his writings.
BRS MLC Kavitha also drew attention to the fact that the Telangana government, under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, had been officially celebrating Dasharathi’s birth anniversary since 2015, along with instituting the “Dasharathi Sahitya Puraskar.” However, she pointed out that there had been insufficient significant activities in recent years in line with the centenary celebrations.

హైదరాబాద్ లోని ఒక ప్రముఖ కూడలిలో దాశరథి విగ్రహాన్ని ఏర్పాటు చేసి గౌరవించుకోవాలని కోరారు. దాశరథి జన్మించిన మహబూబాబాద్ జిల్లా చిన్న గూడూరు గ్రామంలో స్మృతి వనం ఏర్పాటు చేయడంతో పాటు గ్రామస్థులు ఏర్పాటు చేసుకున్న దాశరథి గ్రంథాలయానికి ప్రభుత్వం నూతన భవనం నిర్మించాలని ప్రతిపాదించారు. దాశరథి సమగ్ర సాహిత్యాన్ని ప్రభుత్వమే ముద్రించి లైబ్రెరీలలో ఉంచడంతో పాటు అందరికీ అందుబాటులోకి తేవాలని సూచించారు.
దాశరథి శతజయంతి ఉత్సవాలను ప్రభుత్వం పక్షాన అధికారికంగా సంవత్సరం పొడవునా నిర్వహిస్తామని ప్రభుత్వం ఇప్పటికే ప్రకటించి ఉన్నదని, కానీ ఆ దిశగా పెద్దగా కార్యక్రమాలు జరిగిన దాఖలాలు లేవని ఎండగట్టారు. దాశరథి శత జయంతి సంవత్సరం సందర్భంగా సంవత్సరం పొడవునా కార్యక్రమాలను రాష్ట్ర వ్యాప్తంగా విస్తృతంగా జరపాలని, శతజయంతి ఉత్సవాల ముగింపు వేడుకలను ప్రభుత్వం పాఠశాల స్థాయి నుండి రాష్ట్ర స్థాయి వరకు పెద్ద ఎత్తున జరపాలని పేర్కొన్నారు.
దాశరథిని కారాగారంలో ఉంచిన నిజామాబాద్ జిల్లా పాత జైలును ఇప్పటికే తాను కొంత నిధులను వెచ్చించి దాశరథి స్మారక ప్రాంగణం ఏర్పాటుకు పనులు చేపట్టామని, దానిని అందరికీ అందుబాటులోకి తేవడానికి ప్రభుత్వం నుండి కూడా పూనుకొని మరిన్ని ఏర్పాట్లు, మరమ్మత్తులు చేసి ప్రముఖ పర్యాటక ప్రదేశంగా తీర్చిదిద్దాలని కోరారు.
మహాకవి దాశరథి స్ఫూర్తిని కొనసాగించేందుకు తెలంగాణ తొలి ముఖ్యమంత్రి కే చంద్రశేఖర్ రావు నేతృత్వంలోని తెలంగాణ తొలి ప్రభుత్వం 2015 నుంచి దాశరథి జయంతిని అధికారికంగా నిర్వహిస్తూ వచ్చిందని గుర్తు చేశారు. దాంతో పాటు “దాశరథి సాహితీ పురస్కారం”ను ఏర్పాటు చేసి రవీంద్ర భారతి వేదికగా సన్మానించి రూ.1,01,116 నగదును అందిస్తూ రావడం జరిగిందని చెప్పారు. అలాగే మర్రి చెన్నారెడ్డి మానవ వనరుల అభివృద్ధి కేంద్రంలోని ఆడిటోరియంకు దాశరథి ఆడిటోరియంగా పేరు పెట్టడంతో పాటు ఆయన కుటుంబానికి అండగా నిలిచేందుకు వారి కుమారుడికి గత తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వం ఉద్యోగం ఇవ్వడం జరిగిందని వివరించారు.
“తెలంగాణ విముక్తి పోరులో ప్రజల పక్షాన నిలవడమే కాక అనేక రచనా ప్రక్రియలలో సాహితీ సృష్టి చేసిన సృజనకారులు. ఈ నేల అస్మితను ఆకాశమంత ఎత్తున నిలిపిన ఆ మహనీయుని శత జయంతి ఉత్సవాలు తెలంగాణ తన మూలాలను నెమరువేసుకునే చారిత్రక సందర్భం. దాశరథి గారి స్ఫూర్తిని ముందుతరాలకు చాటే దిశగా ఈ ఉత్సవాలను ఘనంగా నిర్వహించాలని తమరిని సవినయంగా కోరుతున్నాను.” అని స్పష్టం చేశారు.
కవిత్వం, నాటికలు, కథలు, యాత్రా చరిత్ర వంటి ప్రక్రియలతో తెలుగు సాహిత్యాన్ని పరిపుష్టం చేసిన మహాకవి దాశరథి అని కొనియాడారు. అద్భుతమైన సినిమా పాటల రచయితగా జోతలందుకున్న తెలంగాణ బిడ్డ దాశరథి కృష్ణమాచార్య అని, ఆయన శత జయంతి తెలంగాణ ప్రజలందరికీ పెద్ద పండుగ. ఈ శత జయంతి సంవత్సరాన్ని ఘనంగా నిర్వహించడం ప్రభుత్వం విద్యుక్త ధర్మమని ఎమ్మెల్సీ కవిత గుర్తు చేశారు.
