Hyderabad: National Institute of Tourism & Hospitality Management (NITHM),Gachibowli Hyderabad, Indira Mahila Shakti Programme – Mobile Fish Retail Outlets Training on “Fish Value added products & Business Management” from 5th to 7th Dec, 2024. This program is under the scheme of Indira Mahila Shakti-MFROs implemented by Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) & Department of Fisheries, Government of Telangana, Hyderabad .
Totally 29 women have been trained, in the three days. This Program is Sponsored by Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), Panchayat Raj & Rural Development Department, Government of Telangana, Hyderabad. All the 29 trained women will be issued Fish Trucks soon after the training, this scheme is through IMS-MFROs-SERP govt. of TG.

The aim of the program is to give livelihood training to fish women to prepare fish products that is helping and encouraging them to run mobile fish truck canteens, so they can become successful entrepreneurs. Their learning is on the cooking of a variety of fish, Fish Pakoda; Fish 65; Fish Cutlet, Patrari Mirchi; Prawns Palao; Apollo Fish, Fish in hot garlic; Fish Fry and Prawn Skewer. Apart from their hands-on practical learning, the theory learning was imparted on Hygienic practices in food handling; food presentation and soft skills and grooming standards.

The Valedictory Programme was conducted today 07th Dec ’24 at 2:00 pm. The opening address was given virtually by Smt. D. Divya,IAS; CEO of SERP. On the Dias was seated Dr. D. Venugopal Rao, Director of SERP (LLH); V Srinivas GM Fisheries Dept. TS along with Chef Dr. MK Ganesh Principal I/c NITHM. Along with Koteshwara Rao Project Manager; Raj Kumar Asst. Project Manager; NITHM’s Chef Chef Tulja Ram and Mrs. Michelle J Francis Sr. Asst. Prof (Training & Placement) Officer of NITHM were part of the Valedictory.
During the validatory, in the opening address Smt. D Divya, IAS mentioned that they should be happy after getting trained in NITHM and use this training for their business successfully. Fish Cooking needs to be done with care, as fish decays faster than other meats. The training should be used effectively with zero error, also keeping in mind quality, taste and Hygiene. V Srinivas GM Fisheries Dept. in his message mentioned that they would be getting their vehicles at their districts in the coming weeks. He invited them to the Hyderabad Fisheries Dept. running canteen to also enhance their bulk cooking skills and other menus.
The Fish truck fully equipped with storage, cold storage and cooking area will be given to them for their mobile fish business. Dr. D. Venugopal Rao, Director of SERP (LLH) interacted with the participants on their learning and how much they are taking back to enhance their business. Few Video bites were taken on their learning and for SERP and Fisheries Department and for our Chief Minister to review.
All students shared their learning experiences, saying they were very happy with the program, on the NITHM campus with hospitality and the environment so serene. The program was coordinated well by Sr. Asst. Prof. Mrs. Michelle J Francis from NITHM,under the guidance of Sri Zendage Hanumant Kondiba, IAS Director of Tourism and Nithm.
