Hyderabad : A ful l-fledged Women’s Wing of the Public Relations Society of India’s Hyderabad chapter took charge at a brief ceremony at its office in Lakdikapul in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The PRSI national general secretary Mr. Y.Babji inducted the members with a formal oath in the presence of the convenor Dr K. Anitha, who had taken charge on International Women’s Day.
“This is a red letter day in the history of the PRSI. For the first time, a separate wing for women is formed with an aim of bringing female PR and Corporate Communications professionals from public, private, and NGO sectors, Journalism and Management faculty and students professionals together to address issues, discuss ideas, celebrate achievements and set agendas for the common good,” Mr. Babji said.
He complimented the Hyderabad chapter Chairman Dr Ramu Suravajjula for having taken the lead in forming a separate women’s wing as soon as he took charge. Thanking the Hyderabad chapter leadership for giving shape to the idea of a women’s wing that has been pending for more than a decade, its convenor Dr.Anitha said: “We got a great opportunity to chalk out exclusive programmes. Besides improving the membership, we, as a team, are going to take up a good number of programmes. We wish to provide a solid platform for women professionals while ensuring collaboration between PR, Media and Academia,” Dr Anitha said.
The women’s includes: Dr Sri Bala, Dean Gender Studies, Henry Martin Institute (Co-convenor), C.Dhanya Sree, PhD scholar (Coordinator). Noted educationalist C.Rama Devi, and Founder of Taruni NGO, Dr Mamatha, would help the wing in the capacity of advisors. The women’s wing organised its first programme soon after the induction with a lecture by Mrs Nihara Kanety, Programme Executive, All India Radio, Hyderabad, on this year’s National PR Day theme (G-20 and Indian Values: PR Perspectives). “PRSI should play a role in showcasing India’s rich culture and values. PR professionals should focus on creating change agents to protect Women’s rights,” she said
