Hyderabad: National Institute of Tourism & Hospitality Management (NITHM),Gachibowli Hyderabad conducted a three days training for Indira Mahila Shakti Programme – Mobile Fish Retail Outlets Training on “Fish Value added products and Business Management” from 31st Jul to 02nd Aug’ 25.
This program is under the scheme of Indira Mahila Shakti-MFROs implemented by Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) & Department of Fisheries, Government of Telangana, Hyderabad. Totally 17 women were trained and certified, the Training Program is Sponsored by Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), Panchayat Raj & Rural Development Department, Government of Telangana, Hyderabad.

All the 29 trained women will be issued Fish Trucks soon after the training, this scheme is through IMS-MFROs-SERP govt. of TG. The aim of the program is to give livelihood training to fish women to prepare fish products that is helping and encouraging them to run mobile fish truck canteens, so they can become successful entrepreneurs.

Their learning is on the cooking of a variety of fish, Fish Pakoda; Fish 65; Fish Cutlet, Patra ri Mirchi; Prawns Palao; Apollo Fish, Fish in hot garlic;Fish Fry and Fish Biryani. Apart from their hands-on practical learning, the theory learning was imparted on Hygienic practices in food handling; food presentation; soft skills and grooming standards.
The Valedictory Programme was conducted today 02nd Aug’25 at 2:30 pm. The opening address was given by Chef Dr.MK Ganesh Principal I/c NITHM. Dr. Satish SERP DPM (LLH); Chef Tulja Ram and Mrs. Michelle J Francis Sr. Asst. Prof (Training & Placement) Officer of NITHM were part of the Valedictory. On the 01st Aug, CEO of SERP Smt. Divya D, IAS had an online interaction with the trainees.
After congratulating the women, she guided them to be strong entrepreneurs following the safety and hygiene standards of cooking and mentioned not to use ready made food colors. She also said that they need to follow the kitchen cleanliness, and also keep practising what was taught to them at NITHM.
Smt. Divya concluded wishing them all the best for their new business venture. At the closing Chef Tulja Ram congratulated the Indira Mahila Shakti women for coming to NITHM and learning to prepare fish products. He mentioned that they need to practice what was taught and said that they could call if they have any doubts in future and take guidance. Dr. Satish Project Manager SERP spoke on their three days learning that included cleanliness and told them they need to maintain business standards.
He thanked the NITHM team for giving the participants good training in a lovely, friendly and green environment. And wished the participants all the best for their business. Few ladies shared their three days learning, All students shared their learning experiences, saying they were very happy with the program, on the NITHM campus with hospitality and the environment so serene. The program was coordinated by Sr. Asst. Prof. Mrs. Michelle J Francis from NITHM, under the guidance of Prof. V. Venkata Ramana Director Nithm.
