Uttam assures proactive support, says real estate sector will witness a boom under Congress rule
Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday reaffirmed the Congress Government’s strong commitment to the real estate sector, assuring full support to builders at the first Annual General Meeting of the Cyberabad Builders Association (CBA) held at HICC Novotel.
Addressing a packed hall of builders, developers, and stakeholders, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the the reports of a slowdown in construction activity were blown out of proportion and the Congress government would ensure a real estate boom in Hyderabad and surrounding areas. “We are meeting at a crucial time. Many of you are anxious about the future. Let me assure you categorically that the present Congress Government in Telangana is completely committed to supporting building and construction activity not only in Hyderabad and Cyberabad but across the entire state,” he said.

He promised that the government would proactively intervene to resolve any issues faced by builders – be it with government agencies or any other authorities – to ensure smooth operations and exponential business growth. “We want every builder to benefit from the growth of Hyderabad and particularly the Cyberabad region,” he added.

Highlighting the legacy of the earlier Congress governments, the Minister noted that most of the globally recognised infrastructure in Hyderabad – such as the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, the Outer Ring Road (ORR), the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway, the Metro Rail network, and major drinking water projects bringing water from the Krishna and Godavari rivers – were all executed during Congress rule. “This is global standard infrastructure, and it is what made Hyderabad one of the fastest-growing cities not just in India, but in the world,” he said.

Reiterating that Hyderabad enjoys a moderate climate, cosmopolitan culture and a business-friendly environment, Uttam Kumar Reddy assured the builders that the Congress Government would continue to protect this ecosystem. “Whether it is about law and order, social harmony, or policy support – we stand with you in making Hyderabad and Cyberabad grow even faster,” he said.

The Minister also spoke of new initiatives to strengthen Hyderabad’s water infrastructure, noting that the government is working continuously to bring additional drinking water from the Krishna and Godavari rivers to meet the city’s growing needs. “Even in a difficult year, Hyderabad and Cyberabad will not face water shortage,” he said.
On traffic congestion, he said the government is taking up rapid expansion of the Metro Rail network to improve urban mobility. He referred to the presence of global technology giants like Amazon and Google in Hyderabad and said, “Cyberabad will develop as the Silicon Valley of Asia – there is no doubt in my mind.”
Uttam Kumar Reddy said the interest of global investors in Hyderabad’s real estate and construction sector was growing, and the Congress Government was creating the right ecosystem to attract these investments. He pointed out the launch of a Skill University – one of its kind in India – and a planned “Future City” as part of the government’s broader development strategy.
He also highlighted the ambitious Musi River Rejuvenation project, comparing it to the transformation of iconic rivers like the Thames in London, the Seine in Paris, and the Han River in Seoul. “Once completed, Hyderabad will be on par with any global city,” he said.
Promising global standards, robust law and order, and ease of doing business, the Minister assured CBA members of consistent support. “You can look forward to a growing and profitable future. We treat you not just as builders, but as our partners in progress,” he said, echoing the same sentiment in Telugu to a round of applause.
He said that Hyderabad and Cyberabad are at the beginning of a real estate boom. “In a year or two, I am confident that all the projects undertaken by the builders and CBA will bear fruit. The doors of the government are always open to address any of your concerns,” he said.
The AGM of CBA ended on a positive note with builders expressing optimism over the government’s assurance and Hyderabad’s growing status as a global investment destination.
