Hyderabad: Former Minister and BRS Senior Leader Harish Rao, while addressing a large gathering of farmers protest in Thorrur, Mahabubabad district, launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing it of failing to deliver on its promises to the farmers and people of Telangana during the last 10 months in power.
“Revanth Reddy made tall promises to the farmers, assuring them that his first signature would be on the farm loan waiver. But what we have seen are shifting deadlines—first December 9, then August 15—and yet, nothing has been done,” Harish Rao remarked. “Revanth Reddy even swore on sacred places like Komaravelli Mallanna, Yadadri, Bhadrachalam, and Sammakka Saralamma, but it’s clear now—he is not a leader but a deceiver.”
Harish Rao highlighted the government’s failure to implement key welfare schemes, including Rythu Bandhu, loan waivers, pensions, and the Mahalakshmi scheme. “Revanth Reddy promised all of these, yet there is no sign of any action. If the loan waivers are truly complete, I challenge him to resign. Why are so many farmers still protesting across Telangana if the waivers are done?” questioned Harish Rao.

Harish Rao pointed out that 4,314 farmers in Palakurthi Mandal alone are still waiting for their loans to be waived. “Even Agriculture Minister Thummala admitted that out of the 22 lakh farmers who were supposed to benefit from the loan waiver, many have not received any relief,” he emphasized. “Even those who were promised loan waivers remain without the benefit, exposing the lies and deceit of this government.”
Harish Rao accused the Congress government of coming up with 31 different excuses to delay the loan waivers. “Revanth Reddy’s administration is playing games with the lives of farmers. First, they delay the process, then they make excuses like Aadhaar card issues. Farmers and the public can see through this fraud,” he said.
Referring to the Warangal Declaration, Harish Rao recalled the grand promises made by Revanth Reddy, where he committed to providing Rs. 15,000 per acre to farmers and Rs. 12,000 per year to landless agricultural laborers. “None of these promises have been kept,” Harish Rao said. “He also pledged crop insurance for tenant farmers and ownership rights for Podu land, but once again, nothing has been delivered.”
Harish Rao pointed out the crop bonus issue as well. “Revanth Reddy had promised a bonus for all types of crops, but now he is only giving it for fine varieties of rice. This is another example of his deceit.”
Switching focus to the law and order situation, Harish Rao accused the current government of allowing rowdyism to thrive in Telangana. “There is complete chaos, especially in Hyderabad, where the government is unleashing lawlessness in the name of ‘Hydra.’ And if they think they can demolish the homes of the poor near the Musi River, the BRS will not stand idly by. We will fight alongside those affected,” he declared.
Harish Rao demanded that the government immediately release all pending Rythu Bandhu payments before Dussehra. “The BRS party demands that Rythu Bandhu payments be made to all eligible farmers before the festival. We will not rest until the loan waiver is fully implemented,” Harish Rao stated firmly.
Harish Rao took Revanth Reddy to task for failing to fulfill his promise of creating two lakh jobs per year. “Under KCR’s leadership, exams were held, and 30,000 positions were filled. However, since Revanth Reddy took office, not a single job has been created in 10 months. How does he plan to fill two lakh jobs in the remaining two months?” Harish Rao questioned.
He also criticized Revanth Reddy’s failure to provide Dearness Allowance (DA) to government employees, calling it another betrayal. “Mothers, fathers, students, and employees alike have been deceived. Revanth Reddy has let down every section of Telangana’s society,” Harish Rao charged.
Harish Rao spoke emotionally about the tragic suicides of farmers due to unfulfilled promises. “Just recently, Ravi, a farmer from Mahabubabad, took his own life because his Rs. 2 lakh loan was not waived. Another farmer, Surender Reddy from Siddipet, did the same. These deaths weigh heavily on Revanth Reddy’s conscience. He may be ignoring these tragedies, but the people of Telangana will not,” Harish Rao said.
Harish Rao announced that if the loan waiver is not implemented soon, the BRS party will stage a protest outside Rahul Gandhi’s residence after Dussehra. “We will take our fight to Delhi and ensure that this government fulfills its promises. Farmers should not lose hope—BRS will stand by them until justice is served,” Harish Rao vowed.
In his concluding remarks, Harish Rao called upon the farmers of Telangana to confront their local MLAs and ministers about the unfulfilled promises. “The BRS party urges farmers to question those in power—demand answers about crop procurement, loan waivers, and job creation guarantees. The government cannot continue to avoid accountability.”
Harish Rao also demanded Rs. 10,000 per acre as compensation for farmers who have lost their crops due to recent floods. Additionally, he called out the government for the ongoing power cuts, which are making life unbearable for the public. “Instead of the promised 24-hour power supply, people are getting only 10 to 12 hours. This government has failed on every front.”
Lastly, Harish Rao addressed the government’s attempts to intimidate opposition leaders by filing cases against them. “During the Telangana movement, 300 cases were filed against me. Now, they’ve filed 30 more. No matter how many cases they file, we will not back down. We will continue to fight for the people of Telangana,” Harish Rao asserted.
