Hyderabad : Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University, Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre, Gandhinagar was signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani, Vice-Chancellor, BRAOU and Prof. Devika Madalli, Director of INFLIBNET at the BRAOU campus on Tuesday. This MoU lays the foundation for sustained collaboration in areas such as research support systems, digital repositories, academic resource sharing, and capacity building.
Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani said the University has introduced a comprehensive suite of information services aimed at empowering its vast community of students and research scholars. More than 13,000 research journals will become available free of cost to both researchers and faculty members.
These initiatives reflect BRAOU’s commitment to academic excellence, research integrity, and inclusive access to knowledge resources. Another major milestone achieved during this visit is the deepened collaboration between BRAOU and INFLIBNET in the domain of digital education. A robust Learning Management System (LMS) has been introduced, catering to the academic needs of over 1.5 lakh students enrolled at the University. The LMS provides seamless access to a rich repository of multimedia learning resources, including video lectures, audio content, and text-based materials. It also supports interactive learning and offers micro-credential courses, enabling students to learn at their own pace and convenience. Speaking on the occasion, the leadership of both institutions emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to democratize education and promote research excellence.

The collaboration is expected to significantly enhance the academic experience of students while providing researchers with advanced tools and platforms to streamline their work. Prof. Chakrapani emphasize, these initiatives have been made possible with the support of the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA), a flagship programme of the Government of India aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of higher education institutions across the country. With these developments, BRAOU reinforces its position as a forward-looking institution committed to fostering innovation, supporting research scholars, and expanding access to high-quality education through technology-driven solutions.
Prof Devika Madalli, Director, INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar highlight the key point in the inauguration of the innovative INFLIBNET “Cornet,” a unique and symbolic installation conceptualized as a tree structure. Each branch of this installation is embedded with QR codes, enabling instant access to Shod Chakra—a state-of-the-art research lifecycle management system. Shod Chakra is designed to guide and support research scholars at every stage of their academic journey, from initial admission and coursework to thesis submission and final evaluation. To further strengthen the quality and credibility of research outputs, BRAOU has integrated plagiarism detection tools into its research workflow. This ensures that all these undergo rigorous scrutiny for originality before being submitted to ShodhGanga, the national repository of electronic theses and dissertations managed by INFLIBNET.
