Hyderabad : Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), Hyderabad hosted the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Academy Orientation Session on 23rd September 2026 at its campus, bringing together educators, academic leaders and institutional stakeholders from across the region. The orientation was conducted by the AWS Team that comprised of Tejas Vashi, Head of Education Programs, Strategy & Field (Global AWS) and Pratibha Singh, Country Manager, Startegy & Field, AWS Skilling & Social Impact, India and Mr. Krishna Deevi, Head, CSR Cyeint Foundations. Prof. Chakrapani said that the orientation brought together educators, academic leaders and institutional stakeholders from across the region. He said the programme provided a comprehensive introduction to AWS skilling programmes, including AWS Academy, AWS Educate and AWS re/Start. The session offered a deep dive into AWS Academy’s program specifications, membership model, and eligibility criteria for higher education institutions. Participants were guided through the step-by-step onboarding process, from institutional registration to educator accreditation and Learning Management System (LMS) setup. The resource persons detailed the curriculum structure aligned to AWS Certification pathways, and showcased hands-on labs and lab projects powered by the Vocareum environment, with course offerings spanning both STEM and Non-STEM disciplines.
A key highlight was the engagement framework – including ongoing support through Regional Program Managers, educator enablement workshops, student-focused initiatives such as hackathons and cloud clubs, and robust feedback mechanisms to drive continuous improvement in cloud education delivery. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A and networking, with several institutions expressing interest in onboarding to AWS Academy. Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani gave a walk-through of all the digital and skilling initiatives undertaken at the University. He gave an insight into the growth trajectory of the University and the rapid strides taken by the University towards digitization. He also made a pitch for collaborative arrangements with AWS re/Start for the benefit of passed out unemployed or under-employed graduates of BRAOU.

Prof. Chakrapani also asked the AWS team to explore the possibility of offering courses on Warehousing and Logistics management since Amazon has large warehouses that require efficient manpower for smooth operations. The Students of BRAOU can be offered course that align with this job role and can increase their chances of employability. He outlined the Artificial Intelligence being the focus area for future skills.
Mr. Tejas Vashi gave an overview of the industry-relevant cloud computing and emerging technology skill courses offered by AWS Academy. These programmes combine conceptual learning with hands-on experience using AWS technologies, helping learners develop competencies relevant to contemporary IT and digital careers.
Speaking at the interaction, Pratiba Singh said that an association with AWS Academy could complement the University’s digital-learning and employability initiatives by providing learners with structured cloud-skilling opportunities and practical exposure to globally used technologies. The meeting summarised that the collaboration with AWS Academy will significantly strengthen cloud-skills education and enhance employability for learners in Telangana, particularly through BRAOU’s open and distance learning model. All Deans and Directors of the University had an interaction with the AWS Team and Cyient Foundation Team.
