Hyderabad: Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University organized Telangana ideologue, Prof. K. Jayashankar Memorial Lecture at its campus as part of 91st Birthday Celebrations on August 7, 2025 at the university campus. Sri Allam Narayama, Chairman, Telangana Media Academi, attended as Chief guest on the occasion & delivered the lecture on “Professor Jayashankar Anantara Telangana”. Allam Narayana said that the only leader and ideologue of Telangana in the Telangana movement who fought for the statehood throughout his life was Prof. Jayashankar.
He expressed his regret that Prof. Jayashankar hoped to achieve a democratic Telangana and a social Telangana in the reconstruction of Telangana under his own rule, but it has not been possible for the last eleven and a half years. He said that Jayashankar’s idea was to organize and lay strong foundations for the Telangana movement, which was disorganized at the grassroots level due to the Andhra capitalist and dominant political leadership, which is the root cause of regional disparities in resource distribution.
He recalled that Prof. Jayashankar used to explain that how to make plans to achieve Telangana, plans for comprehensive development are equally necessary after Telangana is achieved. He said that Jayashankar used to believe that water, funds, employment, education, medicine and cultural splendor are important in the achieved Telangana. He said that he hoped for long-term economic, political and social reconstruction for the development of Telangana.
He said that he gave a direction to the Telangana movement that a separate Telangana is possible only through the political process and through Article 3 included in the Constitution by Ambedkar, and finally, Telangana was achieved through that process, Allam Narayana explained. Prof. Jayashankar said that with the spread of the Bhavajwala, the various sections of the society came together with the opinion that “This is the last hope, our only hope”.
He said that activists like him should question the mistakes made in the Telangana administration itself, which is not possible because they are in office. He expressed his regret that the previous government lifted the dharna chowk and suppressed the voices of democracy, and the current government is also showing its authoritarian tendencies by locking the Martyrs’ Stupa and Ambedkar’s statue. He criticized the behavior of the past and current governments, saying that even in Telangana itself, Andhra contractors, the film industry of that region, and their dominance in education and medicine continue in Telangana.
He said that injustice was done to Telangana even in the Gaddar Awards, Gaddar was insulted by not putting his photo, and giving an award to the film Razakar is like insulting the Telangana society. As Jayashankar Sir said, a true tribute to Prof. Jayashankar will be given only when a democratic Telangana and a social Telangana are achieved.
Prof Ghanta Chakrapani, Vice-Chancellor, BRAOU presided over the program, Prof. Chakrapani said that Prof. Jayashankar added ideological wealth to the Telangana movement. He said that he used to explain the injustices done to Telangana and the exploitation of Telangana’s wealth and resources in a way that made both the Telangana society and intellectuals think. Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani recalled that Prof. Jayashankar formulated a plan for the comprehensive development of Telangana after the formation of a separate Telangana state.
Prof G. Pushpa Chakrapani, Director Academic, BRAOU introduced about the program and Chief Guest. Prof. Pushpa said that development is a continuous process and comprehensive development is possible only when the rulers are along with the development of the society. Dr. L. Vijaya Krishna Reddy, Registrar also spoke on the occasion & Proposed vote of thanks. Earlier, the Directors, Heads of the Branches, Deans, Teaching and Non-Teaching staff members and representatives of various service associations garlanded the portrait of Prof. K. Jayashankar and offered rich floral tributes.

ఆయన మాట్లాడుతూ వనరుల పంపిణీలో ప్రాంతీయ అసమానతలకు మూల కారణంగా ఉన్న ఆంధ్ర పెట్టుబడిదారీ, ఆధిపత్య రాజకీయ నాయకత్వం వల్ల క్షేత్రస్థాయిలో అసంఘటితంగా ఉన్న తెలంగాణవాదాన్ని సంఘటిత పరిచి బలమైన పునాదులు వెయ్యాలన్నది జయశంకర్ అభిమతమని, ఆ మేరకే ఆయన ఆలోచనలు ఉండేవని చెప్పారు. తెలంగాణా సాధించడానికి ఏ విధంగా ప్రణాళికలు రూపొందిస్తామో, తెలంగాణ వచ్చాక సమగ్ర అభివృద్ధికి ప్రణాళికలు కూడా అంతే అవసరమని ప్రొ. జయ శంకర్ వివరించేవారని గుర్తు చేశారు. సాధించుకున్న తెలంగాణలో నీళ్ళు, నిధులు, ఉపాధి, విద్య, వైద్యం, సాంస్కృతిక వైభవం ముఖ్యమైనవని జయశంకర్ పెర్కొనేవారన్నారు. తెలంగాణ అభివృద్ధికి దీర్ఘకాలిక ఆర్థిక, రాజకీయ, సంఘీక పునర్నిర్మాణం జరగాలని ఆకాక్షించారని తెలిపారు. భావజాల పరంగా, పార్టీల పరంగా వేర్వేరుగా ఉన్న శక్తులను ఒకే తాటిపైకి తెస్తేనే రాజకీయ ప్రక్రియ ద్వారా, రాజ్యాంగంలో అంబేద్కర్ పొందుపరచిన ఆర్టికల్ 3 ద్వారా మాత్రమే ప్రత్యేక తెలంగాణ సాధ్యమని తెలంగాణ ఉద్యమానికి ఓ దిశా నిర్దేశం చేశారని చివరకు ఆ ప్రక్రియ ద్వారానే తెలంగాణ సిద్ధించిందని అల్లం నారాయణ వివరించారు.
ప్రొ జయశంకర్ భావజ్వాల వ్యాప్తితో “ఇదే ఆఖరి మోఖ, ఔర్ ఏక్ ధక్కా” అనే అభిప్రాయంతో సబ్బండ వర్గాలు ఏకతాటిపైకి వచ్చాయన్నారు. తన లాంటి ఉద్యమకారులు స్వీయ తెలంగాణ పాలనలో జరిగే తప్పిదాలను ప్రశ్నిద్దాం అంటే పదవుల్లో ఉండడం వల్ల సాధ్యం కాలేదని పేర్కొన్నారు. గత ప్రభుత్వం ధర్నా చౌక్ ని ఎత్తివేసి ప్రజాస్వామిక గొంతులను నొక్కిందని, ప్రస్తుత ప్రభుత్వం కూడా అటు అమరవీరుల స్థూపం ఇటు అంబేద్కర్ విగ్రహాన్ని సందర్శించకుండా తాళాలు వేసి తన నిరంకుశ ధోరణిని చాటుకుంటోంది అని ఆవేదన వ్యక్త పర్చారు.
స్వీయ తెలంగాణలో కూడా ఆంధ్ర కాంట్రాక్టర్లు, ఆ ప్రాంత సినిమా వాళ్ళు, విద్యా, వైద్యం లో కూడా వారి పెత్తనమే తెలంగాణలో కొనసాగుతోందని గత, ప్రస్తుత ప్రభుత్వాల తీరును విమర్శించారు. గద్దర్ అవార్డులలో కూడా తెలంగాణకు అన్యాయం జరిగిందని, గద్దర్ ఫోటో పెట్టకుండా ఆయనను అవమానించారని, రజాకార్ సినిమాకు అవార్డ్ ఇవ్వడం అంటే తెలంగాణ సమాజాన్ని అవమానించినట్లే అని పేర్కొన్నారు. జయశంకర్ సర్ చెప్పినట్లు ప్రజాస్వామ్య తెలంగాణ, సామాజిక తెలంగాణ సాధించినప్పుడే ప్రొ. జయశంకర్ కు నిజమైన నివాళి అన్నారు.
కార్యక్రమానికి అధ్యక్షత వహించిన విశ్వవిద్యాలయ ఉపకులపతి ఆచార్య ఘంటా చక్రపాణి మాట్లాడుతూ తెలంగాణ ఉద్యమానికి భావజాల సంపదను ప్రొ జయశంకర్ చేకుర్చారని అన్నారు. అటు తెలంగాణ సమాజానికి ఇటు మేధావులను ఆలోచించేలా తెలంగాణాకు జరిగిన అన్యాయాలను, తెలంగాణ సంపద, వనరుల దోపిడీని వివరించేవారని పేర్కొన్నారు. ప్రత్యేక తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్ర ఏర్పాటు తర్వాత తెలంగాణ సమగ్ర అభివృద్ధికి ప్రొ. జయశంకర్ ప్రణాళికను రూపొందించారని ప్రొ. ఘంటా చక్రపాణి గుర్తుచేసారు.
విశ్వవిద్యాలయ అకాడమిక్ డైరెక్టర్ ప్రొ. జి. పుష్పా చక్రపాణి కార్యక్రమ ఆవశ్యకతను వివరిస్తూ ముఖ్య అతిథిని సభకు పరిచయం చేశారు. అభివృద్ధి అనేది నిరంతర ప్రక్రియ అని, పాలకులు సమాజాబివృద్ధికి పాటు పడ్డప్పుడే సమగ్ర అబివృద్ధి సాధ్యం అవుతుందన్నారు. కార్యక్రమంలో విశ్వవిద్యాలయ రిజిస్ట్రార్, డా.యల్. విజయా కృష్ణా రెడ్డి వందన సమర్పణ చేయగా అన్ని విభాగాల అధిపతులు, డీన్స్, అధ్యాపక , అధ్యపకేతర సిబ్బంది, అన్ని ఉద్యోగ సంఘాల నాయకులు పాల్గొన్నారు. అంతకు ముందు ప్రొ.జయశంకర్ చిత్ర పటానికి పూలమాల వేసి నివాళి అర్పించారు.
