Hyderabad: Dr Boini Jagan Mohan, Dean and Professor of Forensic Medicine, Shadan Institute of Medical Sciences, said that heart related problems can be avoided by leading a stress-free life along with regular walking, nutritious food. He spoke as the chief guest at an awareness camp on heart related diseases organized to celebrate World Heart Day at Pragathi Vidya Niketan High School, Amberpet under the auspices of Nava Bharathi Nirman Foundation. It is estimated that 20.5 million people die worldwide every year due to cardiovascular diseases.
He said that through frequent health check-ups, early detection and treatment of heart diseases can prolong life. It is recommended to ensure that LDL cholesterol does not increase. Telangana Citizens Council State President Dr. Raj Narayana Mudiraj said that good sleep is necessary to be healthy and explained with examples that one should stay away from smoking and alcohol, stay away from oily substances and junk food and do walking and exercise to decrease at least 300 calories daily. Lions club International 320B District Chairman Lion Akula Ravindar Rao presided over and said that unhealthy lifestyles are the reason why young people are suffering from heart attacks and suggested to introduce yoga and meditation in schools to reduce spending long hours with smart phones, computers and tablets.
The general secretary of the State BC Association Mr. Gundepalli Srinivas said that the BP of youth above 18 years should not exceed 80-120, especially to avoid junk food and fatty foods and fresh fruits and vegetables should be taken and recommend blood tests at least once a year. On this occasion, Mr. Battula Hemanth, Founder President of Nava Bharthi Nirman Foundation gave a speech and explained the programs undertaken on health issues.
