Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed satisfaction with the one-month tenure of the Congress Government in Telangana. He highlighted the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficient governance during this period.
“We came closer to the people during the month-long rule,” said Uttam Kumar Reddy, emphasizing the government’s efforts to establish a strong connection with the public. He reassured that ministers and officials were consistently available to address the concerns of the citizens.
Uttam Kumar Reddy outlined the government’s focus on accountability and transparency, particularly in the Irrigation and Civil Supplies departments. “Within a month, we have demonstrated how public governance should be,” he stated, highlighting the tangible steps taken to bring about positive change.
The minister claimed that the people of Telangana perceive a sense of new independence, expressing their happiness over the end of what they describe as dictatorial rule. He affirmed the government’s commitment to delivering the kind of governance that meets the expectations of the citizens.
During the last month, Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that several review meetings were held to assess the performance of the Irrigation and Civil Supplies departments. “We have reviewed the Kaleswaram project, the damage to the Medigadda barrage, etc., We gave a PowerPoint presentation with the top officials of the Kaleswaram project and all the construction firms of the the Medigadda barrage. We informed the people and the media about the facts. We have requested the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court to appoint a sitting judge to probe into the Kaleshwaram project irregularities,” he said.
“I, along with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, went to Delhi to meet and appeal to the Union Water Resources Ministry to grant national status for the Palamuru Rangareddy project. All kinds of measures have been taken to provide irrigation water to the farmers in the state,” he added.
He also informed that the Civil Supplies Department has accumulated debts of over Rs 58,000 Crores due to the misgovernance of the previous BRS regime. Further, the rice being supplied to the poor by the previous BRS regime was of inferior quality and not edible. “Despite spending Rs 39 per kg, more than 70% of rice is not being directly consumed and diverted for other purposes for as low as Rs 5 per kg. We are taking measures to make it fully useful to people,” he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy promised continued transparent and accountable governance in the Irrigation and Civil Supplies department, affirming the government’s dedication to working in the best interests of the people of Telangana.

ముఖ్యంగా నీటి పారుదల, పౌర సరఫరాల శాఖల్లో జవాబుదారీతనం, పారదర్శకతపై ప్రభుత్వ దృష్టిని ఉత్తమ్ కుమార్ రెడ్డి వివరించారు. సానుకూల మార్పును తీసుకురావడానికి తీసుకున్న స్పష్టమైన చర్యలను హైలైట్ చేస్తూ, “ప్రజా పాలన ఎలా ఉండాలో ఒక నెలలోనే మేము ప్రదర్శించాము” అని ఆయన పేర్కొన్నారు.
తెలంగాణ ప్రజలు కొత్త స్వాతంత్య్ర భావాన్ని గ్రహిస్తున్నారని, నియంతృత్వ పాలన ముగియడం పట్ల తమ సంతోషాన్ని వ్యక్తం చేశారని మంత్రి పేర్కొన్నారు. పౌరుల అంచనాలకు అనుగుణంగా పాలన అందించాలనే ప్రభుత్వ నిబద్ధతను ఆయన స్పష్టం చేశారు.
గత నెల రోజులుగా నీటి పారుదల, పౌర సరఫరాల శాఖల పనితీరును అంచనా వేసేందుకు పలు సమీక్షా సమావేశాలు నిర్వహించామని ఉత్తమ్‌కుమార్‌రెడ్డి పేర్కొన్నారు. ‘‘కాళేశ్వరం ప్రాజెక్టు, మేడిగడ్డ బ్యారేజీ నష్టం తదితర అంశాలపై సమీక్షించాం, కాళేశ్వరం ప్రాజెక్టు ఉన్నతాధికారులతో పాటు మేడిగడ్డ బ్యారేజీ నిర్మాణ సంస్థలకు పవర్‌పాయింట్‌ ప్రజెంటేషన్‌ ఇచ్చాం. ఈ విషయాన్ని ప్రజలకు, మీడియాకు తెలియజేశాం. కాళేశ్వరం ప్రాజెక్టు అవకతవకలపై విచారణకు సిట్టింగ్‌ జడ్జిని నియమించాలని తెలంగాణ హైకోర్టు ప్రధాన న్యాయమూర్తిని కోరామని ఆయన చెప్పారు.
‘‘పాలమూరు రంగారెడ్డి ప్రాజెక్టుకు జాతీయ హోదా కల్పించాలని కేంద్ర జలవనరుల శాఖను కలిసి విజ్ఞప్తి చేసేందుకు నేను, ముఖ్యమంత్రి రేవంత్‌రెడ్డితో కలిసి ఢిల్లీకి వెళ్లాం. రాష్ట్రంలోని రైతులకు సాగునీరు అందించేందుకు అన్ని రకాల చర్యలు చేపట్టాం.” అని వివరించారు
గత బిఆర్ఎస్ పాలనా లోపం వల్ల పౌర సరఫరాల శాఖ రూ.58 వేల కోట్లకు పైగా అప్పులు చేసిందని ఆయన తెలియజేశారు. ఇంకా, గత బిఆర్ఎస్ పాలన ద్వారా పేదలకు సరఫరా చేయబడిన బియ్యం కిలో రూ.39 వెచ్చిస్తున్నప్పటికీ 70 శాతానికి పైగా బియ్యం నేరుగా వినియోగించడం లేదని, కిలో రూ.5కే ఇతర అవసరాలకు మళ్లిస్తున్నారని, ప్రజలకు పూర్తిస్థాయిలో ఉపయోగపడేలా చర్యలు తీసుకుంటున్నామని తెలిపారు.
