Hyderabad : St. Francis College for Women, Begumpet, Hyderabad celebrated its College Annual Day on Friday, 23rd January 2026. The occasion was graced by D Joel Davis IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Hyderabad as the Chief Guest and Ms. Annie Vijaya, Director, WE-Enable Urban Innovation WE Hub, as the Guest of Honour. A total of 94 prizes – 20 founded prizes and 74 proficiency prizes were awarded to the students of Under Graduate and Post Graduate for their academic and Co-curricular excellence.

The Chief Guest D Joel Davis IPS expressed his privilege in being part of the college Annual Day. Praising the college’s reputation within the City, he lauded the NCC cadets for presenting an impressive guard of honour. Talking about the Stanford Marshmallow experiment, he urged the student community to set greater goals in life and overcome the temptations of immediate gratification. He cautioned the students to be vigilant of the anonymity in the online sphere and be responsible, respectful and inclusive of others. Mr. Joel noted, “Your Journey may not always be positive. Manage temptations, have a greater goal and come up in life”

Congratulating the award winners, The Guest of Honour, Ms. Annie Vijaya encouraged young minds to be inquisitive, ask questions and stay open to diverse perspectives. She encouraged students to have a motto of 3 C’s for excellence – Curiosity, Courage and Continuous learning. Highlighting the importance of courage, she spoke about her work with women entrepreneurs and students who often struggle with self-doubt, reminding the audience that standing up for oneself is essential and that empowering others to be brave is equally important. Ms. Vijaya gave an open call to the students of St Francis College to join the second cohort of WE- Enable student programme, that encourages women entrepreneurship and experiential learning.

The Principal, Prof. T Uma Joseph presented the annual report of the academic year 2025-26 which, she stated, is a “reflection of the college’s shared vision, dedication and continuous pursuit of excellence.” She expressed gratitude towards the college management, faculty, staff, students, parents and well wishers of the institution for their support, guidance and goodwill which continue to strengthen the vision and mission of the college- “Holistic education for the empowerment of women”. Prof. Joseph congratulated the award winners and lauded them as the pride of the institution and an inspiration to their peers.

The K. Saranya Gold Medal, instituted by Aditi Krishnakumar for securing the highest marks across four semesters in B.Sc. MPCs, was awarded to Surampudi Sai Subrahmanya Subha Santha Sri.
The report highlighted the academic and extracurricular activities in the year 2025-26 including MoUs with national and international Institutions, industry academia collaboration and research accomplishments of faculty and students. The social commitment of the institution was highlighted through the outreach initiatives such as donation drives, Daan Utsav and medical camps under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. The college was recognised and awarded the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) star status for the second consecutive year and granted 58 lakhs for research excellence.
The day of celebration acknowledging the growth and achievements of the institution ended with a graceful dance performance on the theme of “Farmers of India” honouring the spirit of the Raitu.
