Hyderabad : Telangana State BJP President N Ramchander Rao today said the BJP has officially won over 250 wards so far and emerged as the single largest party nearly in six municipalities. Addressing a press conference at state office after conclusion of polling, he said the BJP is moving towards capturing the Nizamabad and Karimnagar Municipal Corporations first time.
Rao expressed hope that the party expected to win between 320 to 350 seats and in a position to win approximately 70 divisions in various Municipal Corporations following increase in voting share from 13 percent to 20 per cent. He said BJP is rising and its performance has significantly improved in areas like Mancherial, Ramgundam and Nalgonda compared to the past. The BJP state chief stated that the party is set to capture 5 municipalities, specifically winning Chairman positions in Vemulawada, Raikal, Narayanpet, Adilabad, and Metpally.

In the past, the party had won only two Municipalities and about 241 ward members. Rao pointed out that in about 200 wards, BJP candidates lost by slim margins of 2 to 25 votes. Triangular contests in some areas caused minor losses to the party. In wake of BJP growing popularity and people’s support, the BJP has opened its account in districts where it previously had no representation such as winning a ward in Ashwaraopeta (Bhadradri Kothagudem district) and a division in Kothagudem Corporation.
