St. Joseph’s Degree & PG College: Grand Celebration Of NSS Day

Hyderabad: The NSS Day was celebrated in St. Joseph’s Degree & PG College, King Koti Road Hyderabad on Friday afternoon with lot of enthusiasm and a patriotic spirit. The celebrations marked three events. The first was a Quiz Competition on NSS and the second was distribution of Sanitary Napkins to the girl students of Government School Badi Chawdi.

Today’s Chief Guest was Mr Mahesh Murlidhar Bhagwat IPS, ADG CID/CID Chief of Telangana State. The NSS Program Officer Mrs Aparna Rajhans welcomed the gathering. A small video ‘Journey Of NSS’ prepared by the Volunteers Core Team was played.

Fr. Anthony Sagayaraja, Principal addressed the gathering and lauded the efforts of the volunteers in all the social welfare activities specially the ‘Vidyadaan’ initiative. Mrs Aparna Rajhans introduced the Chief Guest to the audience.

In his speech Mr Mahesh Bhagwat said, “The feeling of giving back to the society stems from being an NSS Volunteer. The attitude of giving back is imbibed through the NSS activities. In the UPSC Exam interview, being an NSS Volunteer is an added benefit. Humanity is the greatest religion. During the Covid days, humanity succeeded. NSS volunteers contribute to National Integration and Nation Building.”

He quoted Swami Vivekanand on youth. He mentioned the ‘सर्व शिक्षा अभियान’ and said continuous education is important. ‘Think about others’ is the Mantra he said. He asked the young and eager volunteers to widen their horizons and become empowered citizens. He mentioned the selfless service of Baba Amteji.

He advised the students to read motivational and inspirational books by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and also Shiv Khera. In fact he asked the NSS POs to make their reading a regular NSS Activity. He asked the volunteers to adopt and imbibe the Five C’s of Courage, Character, Courtesy, Commitment and Conviction.

Hari Om, RD Parade Camp January 2023 volunteer of Hindi Mahavidya addressed the volunteers and shared his Camp experience. A short video on ‘Vidyadaan’ initiative was also played. Almost hundred volunteers attended the event. Mr. Martin Mysa, Unit – ll PO rendered the formal Vote Of Thanks.The event concluded with National Anthem.
