Hyderaba: The 37th Convocation of IGNOU, Regional Centre, Hyderabad was held at NTR Auditorium, Potti Sriramulu University, Nampally, Hyderabad on 20th February 2024 at 9.30 AM. Prof K Seetharama Rao, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BR Ambedkar Open University attended, addressed and gave away the degrees to graduands.
Of the total eligible 2471 graduands 271 have given their consent and 165 of them attended the convocation and received their degrees. A book exhibition displayed with the self Learning material of professional programmes and latest programmes launched by the IGNOU. The graduands and the general public visited the stall with attention and curiosity and enquired about further details.
The programme in the auditorium began with the live telecast of the programme held from Headquarters at 9.30 AM. The graduands watched the proceedings, address of the Hon’ble vice president of India and report of Hon’ble Vice chancellor.
The 37th convocation programme of Regional Centre, Hyderabad began at 11.30 AM with the lighting of lamp. The guest of honor,Regional Director and Academics and a special invitee Smt prameela Reddy the spouse of Late Prof G Ram Reddy joined in the lighting of the lamp. Regional Director greeted the special invitee with a bouquet.
The Regional Director presented a comprehensive annual report of the RC, Hyderabad to the august gathering. RD has narrated the progress, performance and initiatives of RC, Hyderabad. RD has listed major achievements of RC, Hyderabad such as; providing quality student support services, activation of new programmes, successful conduct of channel based counselling, launch of SAATHEE project etc.
The guest of honor Prof K Seetharama Rao, Hon’ble vice Chancellor admired and adore the role of the IGNOU in expanding distance educational facilities in India. He recollected being a member of NAAC team how they witnessed the wonderful presentation of Vice Chancellor before the NAAC team. He has expressed happiness for him being part of that NAAC team which accorded A++ rating. Hon’ble Guest of Honor stated that IGNOU is both a competitor and a collaborator. He elaborated how IGNOU is a pioneer and a trend setter in the use of technology synchronizing the HR component and he lauded the achievements of RC, Hyderabad.
Six graduands narrated their experiences with IGNOU on the curriculum, SLMs, academic activities, student support services of the IGNOU LSCs and RC. Among them tw were aged around 76 years. They appreciated the wonderful guidance of the Regional Centre and beautiful design of programme guide.
Dr Raju Bolla, ARD read out the list of graduands discipline wise. The guest of Honor is kind enough to give away the degrees to all the graduands. Later the Regional Director felicitated the Guest of honor with a memento. Dr K Ramesh, Deputy Director gave vote of thanks. Dr PM Sowjanya, ARD was the anchor of the entire programme.
The 37th convocation programme declared closed by the Regional Director at 2.20 PM followed by singing of National anthem in the auditorium by all the participants of the 37th convocation and light refreshment were distributed to all participants and students.
