Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N. Uttam Kumar Reddy reiterated the Telangana Government’s commitment to supporting Hyderabad’s real estate and construction sector, aiming to transform the city into a globally competitive destination.
Speaking at the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO’s) 14th Edition of the Property Show at Hitex Exhibition Centre on Friday, Uttam Kumar Reddy assured real estate developers that the government regarded them as “partners in progress” and was dedicated to working alongside them to drive Hyderabad’s growth. “Our government is standing with you,” said Uttam Kumar Reddy, pledging active collaboration to realise a shared vision for Hyderabad. “To achieve our goal of making Hyderabad a truly global destination, we must work together completely. You are essential partners in driving Hyderabad’s progress,” he added.
Acknowledging Hyderabad’s increasing economic significance within Telangana, Uttam Kumar Reddy assured that the government would take all necessary measures to stimulate real estate and construction activity, a vital engine for economic growth. Addressing concerns raised by the realty sector, Uttam Kumar Reddy directly tackled fears about previous approvals, permissions, and No Objection Certificates (NOCs).

“Let me be clear – any builders holding prior approvals and permissions can rest assured these will be respected. The government will ensure past approvals are honoured, with no disruptions to your projects,” he said. He acknowledged that industry members might feel uncertain due to social media reports or isolated incidents but assured that the administration remained committed to regulatory stability. “No one should worry about interruptions or unexpected issues – this is our assurance,” he emphasised. He recalled that he had taken the initiative to organise a meeting earlier this month between real estate representatives and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka at the Secretariat to allay any concerns.
To further improve communication and address industry needs, Uttam Kumar Reddy proposed establishing a steering committee with members from prominent real estate associations like CREDAI and TREDA. This committee, comprising around ten members, would meet with him at least once or twice a month to discuss and resolve emerging issues. “Our goal is to maintain a consistent and productive dialogue, allowing you to move forward confidently, knowing the government fully supports your growth,” he remarked.

Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted the grand infrastructure development plans the state government had for Hyderabad to position it as a leading urban centre. “We have a concrete vision for Hyderabad. It was our Congress government that built the Outer Ring Road, and now we are developing the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and connecting radial roads. These projects will transform Hyderabad’s landscape and connectivity,” he declared.
The government also promised to alleviate traffic congestion by accelerating the Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion. Uttam Kumar Reddy added that augmenting Hyderabad’s drinking water capacity was under consideration, alongside other urban connectivity enhancements. “From the Future City to the Skill University led by industrialist Anand Mahindra, and a world-class Sports University, we’re laying the foundation to make Hyderabad the beacon of modern urban planning,” he said.
The Congress government, Uttam Kumar Reddy pointed out, was keen on providing the infrastructure, services, and amenities that internationally acclaimed cities offer. According to him, these initiatives underscored a broader government mission to elevate Hyderabad’s status as a global destination – from technology and sports to education and public amenities.
“Hyderabad is an economic nerve,” the Minister stated, adding that almost 60 percent of Telangana’s revenue comes from Hyderabad and its surroundings. Reflecting on his personal connection to the city, Uttam Kumar Reddy said he was born and raised in Hyderabad, with today’s SR Nagar Colony and parts of Panjagutta originally being his ancestral agricultural land.
According to Uttam Kumar Reddy, the real estate and construction sectors are “key drivers for growth,” and the government is committed to setting Hyderabad’s GDP on a higher trajectory. “Bring forward the specific bottlenecks you face, and we will address them immediately,” he encouraged developers. “We welcome your suggestions. If you encounter any obstacles, bring them to us, and we will work together to resolve them,” he added.
Uttam Kumar Reddy cited the Rs 10,000 crore allocation in this year’s state budget for Hyderabad’s infrastructure as an example of the government’s unprecedented focus on the city. “Such investments in Hyderabad’s development were unimaginable until now,” he said. “This significant investment is part of our efforts to build world-class infrastructure, ensure law and order, and foster a cosmopolitan culture with an exemplary climate. There is no reason Hyderabad shouldn’t rank among the world’s prominent cities,” he concluded confidently. Uttam Kumar Reddy reassured the industry that the present government was committed to creating a collaborative, business-friendly environment.
“We are an activist, interactive, and accessible administration. Unlike any previous government, we welcome your suggestions at any time. We are here to ensure you can conduct business peacefully and supportively,” he maintained, emphasising the administration’s open-door policy and commitment to enhancing Hyderabad’s economic and infrastructural development.
Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed appreciation for the positive response from exhibitors. “I am very pleased with the feedback from this show – there is a positive trend in real estate. This government will continue to support and foster this growth, collaborating with you to ensure Hyderabad’s prosperity and global recognition,” he added. Uttam Kumar Reddy ended his speech with a call to action, “Let’s take Hyderabad to the next level, together.
