హైదరాబాద్ : డాక్టర్ బి. ఆర్. అంబేద్కర్ అనుసరించిన బౌద్ధం, విద్య, సాంకేతికత తోనే సామజిక మార్పు సాధ్యమని అంబేద్కర్ సార్వత్రిక విశ్వవిద్యాలయం వైస్ ఛాన్సలర్ ప్రొ. ఘంటా చక్రపాణి అభిప్రాయపడ్డారు. సామాజిక సాధికారత వారోత్సవాల్లో భాగంగా, “బౌద్ధేతర భావజాలాలు అంబేద్కర్ను తనవైపు తిప్పుకోగలవా” అనే అంశంపై డా. బి. ఆర్. అంబేద్కర్ స్మారక ఉపన్యాసం నిర్వహించారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి విశ్వవిద్యాలయ వీసీ ప్రొ. ఘంటా చక్రపాణి ముఖ్య అతిథిగా పాల్గొని ప్రసంగించారు.
ప్రొ. చక్రపాణి మాట్లాడుతూ బుద్ధుని సూత్రాలు, బౌద్ధమత బోధనలతో భారతదేశాన్ని ఐక్యం చేయవచ్చని అన్నారు. సామాజిక సమానత్వం, న్యాయానికి బౌద్ధమతమే మార్గమని అంబేద్కర్ పేర్కొన్నారని గుర్తుచేశారు. సమాజాన్ని మార్చి, అణగారిన వర్గాలను అభివృద్దివైపు ప్రయాణించేలా చేసే శక్తి కేవలం విద్యకు మాత్రమే ఉందని పేర్కొన్నారు. విద్యాభివృద్ధి కార్యక్రమాలను బలోపేతం చేయడానికి, విస్తరించడానికి సాంకేతికతను అనుసంధానించడం ఆవశ్యకతను వివరించారు. విద్యార్థులకు మరింత చేరువయ్యేందుకు, అవగాహనను పెంచేందుకు అంబేద్కర్ జయంతి అయిన ఏప్రిల్ 14న వెబ్ ఆధారిత టీవీ, రేడియో వేదికలను ప్రారంభిస్తున్నట్లు ప్రకటించారు. జ్ఞాన వ్యాప్తికి, సామాజిక మార్పును ప్రోత్సహించడానికి సాధనాలుగా ఈ వేదికలు ఉపయోగపడతాయని ఆశాభావం వ్యక్తం చేశారు.
కార్యక్రమంలో ప్రధాన వక్తగా ఉస్మానియా విశ్వవిద్యాలయ విశ్రాంత అధ్యాపకులు ప్రొ. కంచ ఐలయ్య షెపర్డ్ మాట్లాడుతూ కుల వివక్షను బి.ఆర్. అంబేద్కర్ తీవ్రంగా వ్యతిరేకించారని, హిందూ మతంలో అర్థవంతమైన సంస్కరణలకు ఆస్కారం లేదని, అలాగే జాతీయతను కోల్పోయే భావనకు క్రైస్తవ మతం దారితీస్తుందని అంబేద్కర్ విశ్వసించారని పేర్కొన్నారు. “బౌద్ధేతర భావజాలాలు అంబేద్కర్ను తనవైపు తిప్పుకోగలవా” అనే అంశంపై ఆయన కీలకోపన్యాసం చేశారు. ఆయన మాట్లాడుతూ ప్రస్తుత పరిస్థితుల్లో దేశంలో ఆధ్యాత్మిక ప్రజాస్వామ్యం చాలా అవసరమని, అది లేకుండా సామాజిక ప్రజాస్వామ్యాన్ని సాధించలేమని వివరించారు. రాజకీయ, సామాజిక దృక్పథాలతో ఇస్లాం ఏకీభవించలేదని, సంస్కరణలకు పరిమిత అవకాశాలను మాత్రమే కల్పించిందని అంబేద్కర్ విశ్వసించారని తెలిపారు. అంబేద్కర్ నవ-బౌద్ధాన్ని స్వీకరించడం… సమానత్వం, హేతుబద్ధత, సామాజిక న్యాయంపై ఆధారపడిన ఒక ప్రత్యామ్నాయ మార్గాన్ని అందించిందని పేర్కొన్నారు.
అంబేద్కర్ ఆలోచనలను నేటి పాలకులు తమకు అనుకూలంగా మార్చుకొని, ఆయన ఆలోచనా `సారాన్ని నీరుగారుస్తున్నారని ఆందోళన వ్యక్తం చేశారు. అంబేద్కర్ ఊహించిన సామాజిక సమానత్వం, ఆధ్యాత్మిక విలువలు రెండింటిపై ఆధారపడి సామాజిక ప్రజాస్వామ్యం ఉండాలని అభిప్రాయపడ్డారు. విద్యను, శ్రమ గౌరవాన్ని నేటి పాలకులు విస్మరిస్తున్నారని గుర్తు చేశారు. విద్య అందరికీ అందుబాటులో ఉండాలన్నారు. ఆహార పరిజ్ఞానం, ఉత్పత్తి వ్యవస్థలకు ఆదివాసులు చేసిన కృషిని గుర్తించాలని సూచించారు. అలాంటి ఆదివాసీలు విద్యకు దూరంగా ఉన్నారని, అలాంటి వారికీ అంబేద్కర్ ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ ఉచిత విద్య అందించడం అందంగా ఉందని పేర్కొంటూ అలాంటి వినూత్న ఆలోచన చేసిన వీసీ ప్రొ. ఘంటా చక్రపాణిని కొనియాడారు. బాధ్యతాయుతమైన వ్యక్తులను తీర్చిదిద్దడంలో విద్య, గ్రంథాలయాలు, కుటుంబ విలువల ప్రాముఖ్యతను వివరించారు. ప్రజాస్వామ్యాన్ని పరిరక్షించడానికి, సమానత్వంతో కూడిన సామాజిక వ్యవస్థను నిర్ధారించడానికి జాతీయ రాజధాని వరకు అన్ని స్థాయిలలో రాజ్యాంగాన్ని తప్పనిసరిగా రక్షించాలని సూచించారు.
కార్యక్రమానికి అధ్యక్షత వహించిన డైరెక్టర్ (అకాడమిక్) ప్రొఫెసర్ పుష్ప చక్రపాణి మాట్లాడుతూ బి. ఆర్. అంబేద్కర్ సిద్ధాంతం సమానత్వ సూత్రంలో పాతుకుపోయిందని పేర్కొన్నారు. సమాజంలోని అన్ని వర్గాలకు నిష్పక్షపాతాన్ని, న్యాయాన్ని అందించడమే అంబేద్కర్ దార్శనికత అని ఆ దిశగా యూనివర్సిటీ పయనిస్తోందని చెప్పారు.
కార్యక్రమంలో పాల్గొన్న రిజిస్ట్రార్ డాక్టర్ ఎల్. విజయ కృష్ణ రెడ్డి మాట్లాడుతూ డా. బి. ఆర్. అంబేద్కర్ సార్వత్రిక విశ్వవిద్యాలయం ప్రత్యేకమైన ఫెలోషిప్లను ప్రవేశపెట్టడం, నైపుణ్య ఆధారిత విద్యను బలోపేతం చేయడంపై దృష్టి సారించిందని పేర్కొన్నారు. అభ్యాసకుల సామర్థ్యాలను పెంచడం, సమ్మిళిత, వృత్తి ఆధారిత అభివృద్ధిని ప్రోత్సహించడం లక్ష్యంగా పెట్టుకున్నాయని చెప్పారు. ఫైనాన్స్ అధికారి ఎన్. సి. వేణుగోపాల్, ప్రొ. ఆనంద్ పవార్, ప్రొ. సుధా రాణి, ప్రొ. వడ్డానం శ్రీనివాస్, ప్రొ. రాబింద్రనాథ్ సోలమన్, ప్రొ. పల్లవీ కాబడే, బోధనేతర ఉద్యోగుల సంఘం సభ్యులు కాంతం ప్రేమ కుమార్, విశ్వనాథ్, మియాజనీ, భరత్ రెడ్డి, డా. యాకేష్ దైదా అన్ని విభాగాల డైరెక్టర్లు, డీన్లు, బోధన, బోధనేతర సిబ్బంది, పరిశోదక విద్యార్థులు పాల్గొన్నారు.

Hyderabad : Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University organized Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Memorial lecture on “Is Ambedkar Co-optable by Non Buddist Ideology” as a part of “Social Empowerment Fest” at university campus on Monday.
Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. BRAOU, was the Chief Guest for the program.
Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani stated that India can be united through the principles of Buddha and the teachings of Buddhism. He emphasized that B. R. Ambedkar upheld Buddhism as a path toward social equality and justice. He noted that education alone has the power to transform society and uplift marginalized communities. He highlighted the importance of integrating technology to strengthen and expand developmental programs. Prof. Chaktrapani announced the launch of web-based TV and radio platforms on April 14 to enhance outreach and awareness. He added that these platforms will serve as tools for disseminating knowledge and promoting social change. He concluded by stating that the programs will be regularly evaluated to ensure their effectiveness and impact.
Prof. Kancha Ilaiah Shepherd, Retd. Professor, Osmania University, Hyderabad was the keynote speaker for the program and delivered a lecture on “Is Ambedkar Co-optable by Non Buddist Ideology” Prof.Ilaiah stated that Dr.B.R. Ambedkar strongly opposed caste discrimination and believed that there was no scope for meaningful reforms within the Hindu religion; furthermore, Ambedkar held the view that embracing Christianity would lead to a loss of one’s sense of nationality. He explained that, given the current circumstances, spiritual democracy is a vital necessity in the country, and that without it, social democracy cannot be achieved. Dr. Ambedkar believed Islam did not align with his political and social perspectives and offered only limited scope for reform.
He further noted that Ambedkar’s adoption of Neo-Buddhism provided an alternative path grounded in equality, rationality, and social justice. He expressed concern that contemporary rulers are appropriating Ambedkar’s ideas to suit their own agendas, thereby diluting the very essence of his philosophy. He opined that social democracy as envisioned by Ambedkar must be founded upon both social equality and spiritual values. He pointed out that current rulers are neglecting both education and the dignity of labor, emphasizing that education must be accessible to all.
He suggested that the contributions made by Adivasis (indigenous communities) to food knowledge and production systems be duly recognized. Noting that these very Adivasi communities often remain excluded from formal education, he remarked that it is a truly commendable initiative for the Ambedkar Open University to provide free education to them, He congratulate Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani for conceptualizing such an innovative idea. He explained the importance of education, libraries, and family values in shaping responsible individuals. He suggested that, in order to safeguard democracy and ensure an egalitarian social order, the Constitution must be protected at all levels right up to the national capital.
Prof. G. Pushpa Chakrapani, Director (Academic) presided over the function. She stated that B. R. Ambedkar’s ideology is rooted in the principle of equity. She emphasized that his vision aimed to ensure fairness and justice for all sections of society.
Dr L Vijaya Krishna Reddy, the Registrar, stated that the transformation of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University is focused on introducing unique fellowships and strengthening skill-based education. He emphasized that these initiatives aim to enhance learners’ capabilities and promote inclusive, career-oriented development. N C Venugopal, Finance officer, Prof. Anand Pawar, Prof. Sudha Rani, Prof. Vaddanam Srinivas, Prof. Rabindranath Solomon, Prof. Pallavi Kabade; Non-Teaching Employees Association members, Kantham Prem Kumar, Miya Janni, P. Vishwanath, Y. Ashok, K. Pandu and Directors, Deans, Heads of the Branches, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Members participated in the program.
