Hyderabad: Prof Sanjeev Sonawane, Vice-Chancellor, Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik Was the chief guest at the 44th Foundation Day Lecture of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad. Prof. Sanjeev Sonawane, delivered a Lecture on “Transforming Open and Distance Learning Through AI”. Prof. Sanjeev Sonawane opined that the Open and distance learning has entered a new era in which artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping every facet of the learning experience.
He said how AI is transforming ODL through personalization, adaptive systems, and immersive technologies, drawing on a recent presentation and supporting literature. Personalized and adaptive learning systems use AI algorithms to tailor content to individual students’ needs and pace, substantially improving engagement and outcomes, for educators, AI tools automate administrative tasks and enable real-time progress tracking, freeing instructors to focus on meaningful student interactions.
Generative AI (e.g. large language models) is rapidly streamlining content creation by producing quizzes, essays, multimedia, and localized materials on demand. Immersive technologies such as augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), powered by AI, are providing realistic simulation-based training—bridging geographic divides and allowing virtual hands-on practice in fields like medicine. We also consider ethical challenges and equity issues: ensuring privacy, minimizing algorithmic bias, and extending AI access to underserved and disabled learners.
As Evidence from India and globally shows real-world impact: universities deploying AI tutors report higher retention, and government programs are funding AI literacy. Despite significant promise, challenges remain, including digital infrastructure gaps and the need for robust AI pedagogy. He conclude that AI is a catalyst for democratizing quality education at scale, and recommend coordinated investments in educator training, connectivity, and inclusive policy.
Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani, Vice-Chancellor, BRAOU presided over the program. Prof. Chakrapani said that new innovations are being made in the distance education system. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University is to provide distance education to every home in the state. An MoU signed with Telangana Police and other departments with the aim of converting employees into graduates. He said that they have signed an agreement with WE-Hub for women empowerment and are providing education with employment-based wages. In China has taken place from school to university level in digitalization mode. He announced that a Digital Resource Center will soon be set up at the University.
He expressed the opinion that Open distance education is being taken away from the common man due to the conspiracy of private universities in the country. Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Open University completed 42 years of services to cause of Distance Education in this movement of retrospection, it would be not out of place to recall with pride some of the achievement of the university during its educational annals of the both States. It has been revealed that efforts are being made to strengthen student services and steps have been taken to ensure that all opportunities are available to students who have studied through distance education.
Prof. G. Pushpa Chakrapani, Director (Academic), BRAOU introduced about the program and Chief Guest and spoke on the occasion. Dr.L.Vijaya Krishna Reddy Registrar BRAOU proposed formal vote of thanks. Later, the MoU was exchanged with the translation company, which works under the Central Government. Dr. Buddha Chandra Shekhar, CEO Anuvadini, said that it an honor to provide the translation company, which works according to the domestically manufactured technology to Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Open University.
Later, Micro-Credential courses were launched by Prof Ghanta Chakrapani, Smt T. Sushmana Rao coordinator for the courses, and she explained the importance of the courses. After that, a collection of research papers of the national seminar organized by the Department of Science was unveiled. Recently, the Academic Insights organization announced that Ambedkar Open University MBA (Hospital & Healthcare Management) among the 10 business schools in the country was recognized by the Dean of the Department, Prof. Anand Pawar, and the Head of the Department, Prof. Rabindranath Solomon. VC Ghanta Chakrapani donated 1100 books collected by him to the University Library and gave the details of those books to the Library In-charge, Prof. Rajani. Famous artist Ele Laxman, who designed the Sarikotta emblem for the University, and another artist, Dr. Gone Linga Raju, were felicitated and given cash prizes.
The program was attended by Prof. Vayu Nandan, former VC Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Prof. Venkaiah, former VC, Krishna University, Prof. Sudha Rani, Prof. Rajasekhar Reddy, Prof. Venkataiah, Prof. Kiranmayi, Prof. Solomon, Prof. Pallavi Kabade, Prof. Vaddanam Srinivas, Prof. Madhuri, Dr. Dharma Nayak, Prof. Venkata Ramana, Prof. Boju Srinivas All the Directors, Heads of the Branches, Deans, Teaching and Non-Teaching staff members and representatives of various service associations also participated in the program. హైదరాబాద్ : రోజు రోజుకూ మారుతున్న ఆధునిక సవాళ్ళను అధిగమిస్తూ సరికొత్త డిజిటల్ ఆవిష్కరణలతో దూరవిద్యా విధానం అభివృద్ధిలో పయనిస్తోందని యశ్వంతరావు చవాన్ మహారాష్ట్ర ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ వి.సి. ప్రొ. సంజీవ్ సోనావాణే పేర్కొన్నారు. డా. బి. ఆర్. అంబేద్కర్ సార్వత్రిక విశ్వవిద్యాలయ 44వ వ్యవస్థాపక దినోత్సవాన్ని పురస్కరించుకొని మంగళవారం నిర్వహించిన ఉత్సవాల్లో యశ్వంతరావు చవాన్ మహారాష్ట్ర ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ (YCMOU), నాసిక్, (మహారాష్ట్ర) వైస్-ఛాన్సలర్ ప్రొ.సంజీవ్ సోనావాణే ముఖ్య అతిథిగా పాల్గొని “సార్వత్రిక దూరవిద్యలో కృత్రిమ మేథ ఆధారిత పరివర్తన” అనే అంశంపై స్మారకోపన్యాసం చేశారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా ఆయన మాట్లాడుతూ దేశంలో సార్వత్రిక దూరవిద్య విధానం ఒక కొత్త యుగంలోకి ప్రవేశించిందని, దీనిలో ఆర్టిఫిషియల్ ఇంటెలిజెన్స్ (AI) ఆవశ్యకతను సంతరించుకుందని ప్ర్కొన్నారు.
ఈ ప్రక్రియలో అనేక సవాళ్లు ఎదురవుతున్నాయని, వాటిని ఎదుర్కోవడానికి అధ్యాపకులు నిరంతర అభ్యసనతోనే సాధ్యమని, ప్రపంచ వ్యాప్తంగా వస్తున్న మార్పులను ఎప్పటికప్పుడు అధ్యయనం చేయాలని ఆయన సూచించారు. ఆయా విశ్వవిద్యాలయాల్లో చదివే విధ్యార్ధులను మొదటగా అధ్యాపకులు అర్ధం చేసుకోవాలని, దానికి అనుగుణంగా పరిశోధనలు జరిపి విద్యార్ధులకు ఉపయోగపడే కోర్సులను రూపొందించాలని ఆయన సూచించారు. నూతన అధ్యయనాలు, అవిష్కరణలు ఫలితాలను మెరుగుపరుస్తాయని వెల్లడించారు. జనరేటివ్ ఎఐ కంటెంట్ ఆధారితమైన ఆగ్మెంటెడ్, వర్చువల్ రియాలిటీ (AR/VR) వంటి పరిజ్ఞానం కలిగిన టెక్నాలజీ ఆధారిత అధ్యయనాలు ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా మంచి ఫలితాలను ఇచ్చాయని వివరించారు. డిజిటల్ మౌళిక సదుపాయాల కొరత, సుశిక్షుతులైన బోధకుల లభ్యత వంటి సవాళ్లు అన్ని ప్రభుత్వ విద్యా సంస్థలు ఎదుర్కొంటున్నాయని, వాటిని అధిగామించాల్సిన అవసరం ఉందన్నారు.
ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి అధ్యక్షత వహించిన విశ్వవిద్యాలయ ఉపకులపతి ఆచార్య ఘంటా చక్రపాణి మాట్లాడుతూ దురవిద్యా వ్యవస్థలో నూతన ఆవిష్కరణలకు మార్గాలు వేస్తున్నామన్నారు. రాష్ట్రంలోని ప్రతీ ఇంటికి దూరవిద్యను అందించడమే డా.బి.ఆర్. అంబేద్కర్ సార్వత్రిక విశ్వవిద్యాలయ లక్ష్యమని చెప్పారు. ఉద్యోగులను గ్రాడ్యుయేట్లుగా మార్చడమే లక్ష్యంగా తెలంగాణ పోలీస్ ఇతర శాఖలతో అవగాహన ఒప్పందాలు కుదుర్చుకున్నామని తెలిపారు. మహిళా సాధికారతకు వి-హబ్ తో ఒప్పందం, ఉపాధి ఆధారిత వేతనంతో విద్యను అందిస్తున్నామని చెప్పారు. చైనాలో పాఠశాల నుంచి విశ్వవిద్యాలయ స్థాయి వరకు డిజిటలీకరణ జరిగిందని పేర్కొన్నారు. త్వరలో అంబేద్కర్ సార్వత్రిక విశ్వవిద్యాలయంలో డిజిటల్ రిసోర్స్ సెంటర్ ని ఏర్పాటు చేస్తున్నామని వెల్లండించారు. దేశంలో ప్రైవేట్ విశ్వవిద్యాలయాల కుట్రతో సార్వత్రిక దూరవిద్యను సామాన్యులకు దూరం చేస్తున్నారని అభిప్రాయం వ్యక్తం చేశారు. గత 44 సంవత్సరాల్లో సాధించిన విజయాలను గర్వంగా చెప్పకుంటూనే, సమాజానికి మరింత సహాయకారిగా నిలిచేలా తమ బాధ్యతను మరింత పెంచిందని అన్నారు. విద్యార్ధి సేవల బలోపేతానికి కృషి చేస్తున్నామని, దూరవిధ్యలో అభ్యసించిన విద్యార్ధులకు అన్ని అవకాశాలను అందుబాటులో ఉండేలా చర్యలు చేపట్టినట్లు ప్రొ. ఘంటా చక్రపాణి వెల్లడించారు.
గౌరవ అతిథిగా పాల్గొన్న విశ్వవిద్యాలయ అకాడమిక్ డైరెక్టర్ ప్రొ. పుష్పా చక్రపాణి మాట్లాడుతూ కార్యక్రమ ఆవశ్యకతను, ముఖ్యఅతిథిని పరిచయం చేశారు. విశ్వవిద్యాలయ రిజిస్ట్రార్ ఎల్. విజయ కృష్ణారెడ్డి పాల్గొని ప్రసంగించారు. అనంతరం కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వ ఆధీనంలో పనిచేసే అనువాదిని సంస్థతో జరిగిన అవగాహన మేరకు ఒప్పద పత్రాలను మార్చుకున్నారు. అనంతరం ఆ సంస్థ సీఈఓ డా. బుద్దా చంద్ర శేఖర్ మాట్లాడుతూ దేశీయంగా తయారు చేసిన టెక్నాలజీ మేరకు పని చేసే అనువాదిని అంబేద్కర్ ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీకి అందించడాన్ని గౌరవంగా భావిస్తున్నట్లు పేర్కొన్నారు.
అనతరం మైక్రో క్రేడేన్షియల్ కోర్సులను ప్రారంభించారు. ఈ కోర్సులకు టి. సుష్మనా రావు కో ఆర్డినేటర్ గా ఉన్నారు, ఆమె కోర్సుల ప్రాముఖ్యతను వివరించారు. ఆ తర్వాత సైన్సు విభాగం ఆధ్వర్యంలో నిర్వహించిన జాతీయ సెమినార్ పరిశోధన పత్రాల సంకలనాన్ని ఆవిష్కరించారు. ఇటీవల అకాడమిక్ ఇన్ సైట్స్ సంస్థ ప్రకటించిన దేశంలోని 10 బిజినెస్ స్కూల్స్ లో అంబేద్కర్ ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ ఎం.బి. ఏ. (హాస్పిటల్ & హెల్త్ కేర్ మేనేజ్మెంట్) గుర్తింపు సర్టిఫికేట్ ను ఆ విభాగ డీన్ ప్రొ. ఆనంద్ పవార్, విభాగ అధిపతి ప్రొ. రాబింద్రనాద్ సోలమన్ కు అందించారు. వీసీ ఘంటా చక్రపాణి సొంతంగా సేకరించుకున్న 1100 ల పుస్తకాలను యూనివర్సిటీ లైబ్రరీకి అందిస్తూ ఆ పుస్తకాల వివరాలను లైబ్రరీ ఇంచార్జ్ ప్రొ. రజనీకి అందించారు. యూనివర్సిటీకి సరికోత్త ఎంబ్లెమ్ రూపొందించిన ప్రఖ్యాత ఆరిస్ట్ ఏలే లక్ష్మణ్, మరో ఆర్టిస్ట్ డా. గోనే లింగ రాజు లను ఘనంగా సత్కరించి క్యాష్ ప్రైజ్ అందించారు.
