Big News: Vice-Chancellor Of JNTUH Prof Katta Narasimha Reddy Press Conference Highlights

Hyderabad: It is a great privilege to speak to you all on the eve of my completion of two years
in the office as the Vice Chancellor of this prestigious Technical University in this country. I thank the state Government particularly Hon’ble Chief Minister of the State Sri. Kaluvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao garu for giving me an opportunity to lead this first ever Technological University in the country which has been in the forefront during the last fifty-one years (1972-2023) in providing quality technical education of relevance in the State and the country by facing challenges and promoting the pedagogic vision for future needs at global level.

On this significant day I express my joy and happiness to Inform you that to a major extent I have achieved most of my self-set goals and objectives in transforming this University with the collective hard work and commitment of the Faculty, Nonteaching staff and the students.

Specially I thank from bottom of the heart to each individual faculty, non-teaching staff for joining me to work tirelessly in hard times in imparting quality education to build knowledge and give a definite direction to the technical education of the state for which this University was established.

I started my journey as the Vice Chancellor of this University by focusing on various urgent reforms need in Academic, administrative and financial sectors.

The following are the reforms initiated and completed in the last two years.

ADMINISTRATIVE REFORMS:

1. Introduction of Pre-Auditing system
The very survival of any Institution depends on its financial health assessment which
tells us whether an institution is “living within its available resources.” primary
reserve, viability, net income, and return on net assets etc., After going through the
financial statements I have realised that the expenses of the University outpace the
revenue creating tension and friction in financial transactions of the University. It
was also noticed that the normal practice of Internal and external financial audit
procedures is absent. This has resulted in syphoning the money through different
routes. In order to arrest the wastage and undesired expenses. So, it has been
decided that the University conducts both pre-audit and post-audit for all financial
payments before and after making payments. All bills should be carefully scrutinized
and see that the bills conform to the norms prescribed by the UGC and State
government. Pre-audit section has been created for examination of vouchers,
contracts, etc., in order to substantiate a transaction or a series of transactions
before they are paid for and recorded. All financial controls have been brought into2
the control of Finance officer and the Registrar. This step has helped in saving
substantial amount to the University Ex checker.

2. Mini-library and study places in girls’ hostels
Like never before, mini-library and study rooms facilities have been created in girls’
hotels.

Significant reforms have been introduced in Autonomous colleges examination
system, which has resulted in plugging unfair examination systems prevailed in
Autonomous colleges bringing uniform examination pattern in all the colleges a like.
8. Reforms in Affiliation processes of Affiliating Colleges
The University is accountable to the society in maintaining high academic standards
in its University and Affiliated Colleges. In order to improve the quality of Technical
Education, JNTUH has developed a clear and transparent method of Affiliation
Procedure, and implemented it through online. A separate portal has been launched
in public domain for updating information of all the affiliated colleges from time to
time, which is authenticated by the Director, Academic Audit Cell of the University.
The Fact-Finding Committees visit the affiliated colleges regularly and affiliation is
accorded to colleges which fulfill all the norms and regulations of the university and

AICTE.
9. Curbing the use of fake PhD certificates by the affiliating College Teachers
In the past JNTUH plagued with allegations that some of the faculty members have
submitted fake Ph. D certificates to join as the faculty members of private
affiliating Engineering colleges. Taking this matter seriously JNTU has introduced3
three step verification process of Ph. D certificates submitted by the faculty in
the last two years, which resulted in complete eradication of such cases. After
introducing these steps to day JNTUH is free from such cases.
