‘द हैंगिंग नोज’ हमें जेलों, कैदियों और जेल की ज़िंदगी के बारे में बताती है। जेल में रहते हुए उसने समय का सही इस्तेमाल किया। उसने अपनी पढ़ाई पूरी की, कई अखबार और मैगज़ीन पढ़ीं।

After flipping the pages and translating the book I understood that Rajanna was a poor helpless launderer who washed the clothes of the villagers, slogged the whole day and lived with his mother in a small hut made of tin and tarpolin.

Rajanna was indeed economically weak but strong mentally. He was brave and courageous. He challenged the landlords fearlessly and warned them. When the situation started becoming unfavorable, he decided to take a bold step.
‘The Hanging Noose’ informs us about the prisons, prisoners and prison life. While in jail he utilised the time wisely. He completed his education, read many newspapers and magazines.
The book reveals the hardships of a common man. Rajanna did not have any support. He was not financially sound. He had no Godfather who could carry him out of the clutches of the judicial laws, he did not have powerful voice nor was of aggressive nature.
His wife whom he loved the most, for whom he was given life imprisonment, left him and married someone. For a while he thought for whom should I fight. But he didn’t lose hope. He put his best foot forward. Luck, was certainly on his side. His life is an example for many. He proved that with good deeds one can conquer and achieve the impossible.
As translators of the book – My sister – Mrs. Padma Ajay Bhargav and myself – Dr Chunduri Kameswari have used simple and easy to understand languge so that it can reach a large number of readers. We thank Mr. Rajanna ji for giving us the opportunity. We wish him good luck for future endeavors.
