Smt Sumathi Bodugula IPS DIG Telangana Women Safety Wing
Hyderabad: Telangana Women Safety Wing, DIG, Smt. Sumathi Bodugula IPS, expressed happiness over the 33% reservation given to women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies and encouraged the young women across the nation to make the best use of this opportunity to enter in to politics and make a significant mark, since the most awaited bill became reality.
Public Relations Society of India, Hyderabad Chapter, Women’s Wing, in collaboration with St. Ann’s College for Women Mehadipatanam organized a talk on “Role of women safety wing in Creating Safe and secure state for Telangana Women” by Smt. Sumathi Badugula, IPS, DIG Telanagana Women Safety Wing, on 23rd Sept 2023.
Smt. Sumathi Bodugula IPS, during her address, suggested the PRSI Women’s Wing organize more events to create political awareness to guide and encourage women into politics. She has insinuated the girls to be strong-minded and face the world courageously in spite of tough challenges be individual and independent in life, let the world treat women as equal to men.
She encouraged girls to raise their voices against violence, eve-teasing, and sexual harassment and not to succumb to societal pressures. She assured that the Telangana Women Safety Wing along with the SHE Team and BHAROSA centres will always support Women in need and urged to reach women safety wing anytime as the Telangana police are a call away for every women in the state.
Sumathi explained the well-established mechanism behind Women Safety wing of Telangana and said it is first of its kind in the country. She added that the other states are taking Telangana as inspiration in this regard.
She urged the youth to be brave and bold in expressing their views and don’t be dependent on anyone for support rather become an individual weapon to fight against violence and expolitation and said Telangana Women Safety wing will always stand for them and train them with their internship programme.
Addressing the girls Y. Babji, National Legal Advisor and former National General Secreatary explained the importance of PRSI and its functions, role and achievements in creating awareness on various issues through Hyderabad Chapter. He also appreciated the initiatives of Women’s Wing in creating awareness on varied women issues of society.
Dr. K. Anitha, Women Wing Convenor, encouraged the young girls to participate in Women Wings activates to strengthen the wing and urged them to participate in future programmes for more empowerment.
The event ended with the vote of thanks by Ms. Dhanya Sree, Women Wing Co-Ordinator. Mr. Mohan Rao, Assistant Editor of PR Voice of PRSI, Dr. Sribala Mylavarapu, Women Wing Co-Convenor, Dean Dr. Mahitha Davala and the faculty of St. Ann’s College for Women, Medhipatnam, also participated in the programme.
