Hyderabad: The indefinite strike launched by contract assistant professors at Ambedkar Open University, as per the call given by the State Joint Action Committee demanding regularization of contract assistant professors in universities, continued for the seventh day on Sunday. They protested at the Ambedkar statue on the university premises. Part-time faculty members of Osmania University expressed their support.
Ambedkar Open University Contract Assistant Professors Association President Dr. K. Avinash and General Secretary Dr. M. Kishore said that the state government should respond positively and hold talks to regularize the contract teachers working in the universities.
They urged the government to provide job security by giving them the UGC pay scale (basic, DA, HRA, 3 percent increment) before the regularization process is undertaken. Ambedkar Open University Contract Assistant Professors Association Advisor Dr. K Yadagiri, Treasurer Dr. Y. Kumar, Contract Teachers D. Koteswara Rao, Dr. Padala Laxman, Dr. Sunil Kumar, Narsaiah Bhattu and others participated.

డా బి ఆర్ అంబెడ్కర్ ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ కాంట్రాక్టు అసిస్టెంట్ ప్రొఫెసర్ల సంఘము అధ్యక్షుడు డా. కె. అవినాష్, ప్రధాన కార్యదర్శి డా. ఎం. కిషోర్ మాట్లాడుతూ రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం సానుకూలంగా స్పందించి చర్చలు జరిపి యూనివర్సిటీల్లో పనిచేస్తున్న కాంట్రాక్టు అధ్యాపకులను క్రమబద్ధీకరించాలని కోరారు. క్రమబద్దీకరణ ప్రకియ చేపట్టేలోపు యూజీసీ పే స్కేల్ (బేసిక్, డిఎ, హెచ్ఆర్ఎ, 3 శాతం ఇంక్రిమెంట్) ఇస్తూ ఉద్యోగ భద్రత కల్పించాలని ప్రభుత్వాన్ని కోరారు.
