Hyderabad: Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), Centre for internal Quality Assurance (CIQA) on the occasion United Nations Public Service Day. Prof. R. Limbadri, Chairman, State Council of Higher Education releases “Open Distance Learning in India –Reflections on practices and Future Perspectives” authored by Prof. V. S. Prasad, Formerly Vice – Chancellor, BRAOU and Director, NAAC. Prof. Limbadri said many speakers opined that the Dr. B.R Ambedkar Open University, which has the reputation of being the first open university in the country, will become a hub for distance education at the national level in the coming days.
He mentioned that Prof. V. S Prasad is one of the very few people who pioneer in distance education system in the country. He suggested to learn from Prof. Prasad how to help the organization to reach the top in the state and how to benefit the common people. He said that Prof. Prasad’s research works and his speeches in various higher education institutions are useful for research students and teachers.
He said that Prasad’s was a life of commitment and high values and he was known for discipline. Despite working in key positions in many important educational centers of the country, he believes that decisions have been taken with the aim of providing quality education for the rural and common people, which will be very useful for the future generations.
Prof. G. Haragopal, Retired professor, Hyderabad Central University, he said prof. V. S Prasad’s model is suitable for the spread of distance education in the country. Even now, the number of people pursuing higher education is increasing across the country and they want to see that science and technology does not become an obstacle for poor students in rural areas. There is a difference between regular universities and distance education universities and what makes them special is to read the research articles and books of Prof VS Prasad.
Prof. V. S. Prasad, author of the book said that the government should established Ambedkar Open University as a Distance Education Hub. Prof.prasad has been advised to TSCHE, Chairman Prof R Limbadri to take steps in this direction. He expressed the hope that Telangana, which has become the home of many new innovations, will become a guide for the country in the coming days, thereby increasing opportunities for training, research and studies.
Prof K. Seetharama Rao, Vice-Chancellor, BRAOU presided over the program. Prof. Rao said Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University, which introduced distance education policy in the country, has become a guide for many universities. Keeping in mind that there will be many changes in the system of higher education worldwide, it is advised to make extensive use of modern knowledge in the open distance education system.
Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani, Director (Academic) attended as Guests of Honour spoke on the occasion, said that Prof. Prasad will be one of the pioneers of distance education system in the country. A teacher can learn how to be disciplined even with a set of values by looking at Prof. Prasad. He also said Prof. Prasad’s work in providing higher education to the poor and establishing equal society was commendable.

ఆయన మాట్లాడుతూ దేశంలో దూర విద్యా విధానంపై సుదీర్గంగా అధ్యయనం చేసిన అతి కొద్ది మందిలో ప్రొ. వి. ఎస్. ప్రసాద్ ఒకరు అని పేర్కొన్నారు. రాజ్యంగా పరిధిలో సంస్థ ఉన్నతికి ఎలా పాటుపడాలి, సామాన్య ప్రజలకు ఎలా లబ్ది చేకూర్చాలి అనేది ప్రొ.ప్రసాద్ గారి నుంచి నేర్చుకోవాలని సూచించారు. ప్రొ. ప్రసాద్ పరిశోధనాత్మక రచనలు, పలు ఉన్నత విద్యా సంస్థల్లో అయన చేసే ప్రసంగాలు అటు పరిశోధక విద్యార్ధులకు ఇటు అధ్యాపకులకు ఉపయోగకరం అన్నారు. నిబద్ధతతో, అత్యంత విలువలు కలిగిన జీవితం ప్రసాద్ గారిదని, క్రమశిక్షణకు మారుపేరుగా నిలిచారన్నారు.
దేశంలోని అనేక ముఖ్యమైన విద్యా కేంద్రాల్లో కీలకమైన పదవుల్లో పని చేసినా గ్రామీణ, సామాన్య విద్యార్ధుల కోసం నాణ్యమైన విద్యను అందించడమే లక్ష్యంగా నిర్ణయాలు తీసుకున్నారని అది భవిష్యత్ తరాలకు చాలా ఉపయుక్తంగా ఉండనుందని అభిప్రాయపడ్డారు.
హైదరాబాద్ కేంద్రీయ విశ్వవిద్యాలయ మాజీ అధ్యాపకులు ప్రొ. జి. హరగోపాల్ మాట్లాడుతూ దేశంలో దూర విద్యా వ్యాప్తికి ఆచార్య. వి. ఎస్. ప్రసాద్ మోడల్ అనుసరణీయమని పేర్కొన్నారు. ఇప్పుడిప్పుడే దేశవ్యాప్తంగా ఉన్నత విద్యను అభ్యసించే వారి సంఖ్య పెరుగుతోందని కాగా గ్రామీణ ప్రాంత పేద విద్యార్ధులకు శాస్త్ర సాంకేతిక పరిజ్ఞానం కూడా ఒక అడ్డంకిగా మారకుండా చూడాలన్నారు. రెగ్యులర్ విశ్వవిద్యాలయాలకు దూర విద్యను అందించే విశ్వవిద్యాలయాలకు చాల తేడా ఉందని దేనికి అవే ప్రత్యేకతను కలిగి ఉన్నాయని ఆ తేడా తెలియాలి అంటే ప్రొ. వి. ఎస్. ప్రసాద్ పరిశోధక వ్యాసాలూ పుస్తకాలు చదవాలన్నారు.
కార్యక్రమంలో గౌరవ అతిథిగా పాల్గొన్న విశ్వవిద్యాలయం అకడమిక్ డైరెక్టర్ ప్రొ.ఘంటా చక్రపాణి మాట్లాడుతూ దేశంలో దూర విద్యావిధానాన్ని విస్తృత పరచిన వారిలో ప్రొ.ప్రసాద్ ముందువరుసలో ఉంటారని పేర్కొన్నారు. ఒక విలువలతో కూడా అధ్యాపకుడు ఎలా క్రమశిక్షణతో ఉండాలో ప్రొ. ప్రసాద్ గారిని చూసి నేర్చుకోవచ్చన్నారు. ఉన్నత విద్యను పేదలకు అందించడంలో, సమ సమాజ స్థాపనలో ప్రొ. ప్రసాద్ కృషి అభినందనీయమని కొనియాడారు. ఈ పుస్తకం భావి తరాలకు దిక్సూచిలా నిలువనుంది అని పేర్కొన్నారు.
పుస్తక రచయిత ఆచార్య వి. ఎస్. ప్రసాద్ మాట్లాడుతూ అంబేద్కర్ సార్వత్రిక విశ్వవిద్యాలయన్ని దూరవిద్యా హబ్ గా ప్రభుత్వం ఏర్పాటు చేయాలని కోరారు. ఈ దిశగా చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలని తెలంగాణ ఉన్నత విద్యా మండలి చైర్మన్ ప్రొ. ఆర్. లింబాద్రికి సూచించారు. తద్వారా శిక్షణ, పరిశోధనలు, అధ్యయనాలకు అవకాశాలు పెరుగుతాయని ఎన్నో సరికొత్త ఆవిష్కరణలకు నిలయంగా మారిన తెలంగాణా రానున్న రోజుల్లో దేశానికి మార్గదర్శిగా నిలవనుందని ఆశాభావాన్ని వ్యక్తం చేశారు.
ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి అధ్యక్షత వహించిన విశ్వవిద్యాలయ ఉపకులపతి ఆచార్య.కె. సీతారామారావు మాట్లాడుతూ దేశంలో దూరవిద్యా విధానాన్ని ప్రవేశపెట్టిన అంబేద్కర్ ఓపెన్ యూనివర్సిటీ అనేక విశ్వవిద్యాలయలకు మార్గదర్శిగా మారిందని పేర్కొన్నారు. ప్రపంచ వ్యప్తంగా ఉన్నత విద్యా విధానంలో అనేక మార్పులు వస్తునాయని వీటిని దృష్టిలో పెట్టుకొని విద్యా వ్యవస్థలో ఆధునిక పరిజ్ఞానాన్ని విరివిగా ఉపయోగించుకోవాలని సూచించారు.
